Hongdae gyoza bar with folding-door seats and Orion beer: MANDOO BAR

In short

MANDOO BAR is a fusion K-gyoza pub on Eoulmadang-ro, right beside Hongdae's Red Road in Mapo, Seoul, where you order and pay by QR code on the 1st floor and pick up on the 2nd. This visit packed Mexican taco gyoza with guacamole (13,000 won) and Ppuring gyoza (9,000 won), both with half kimchi and half meat filling, and the 2nd floor also has folding-door window bar seats and Orion draft beer. For gyoza you can eat one-handed while walking Hongdae, MANDOO BAR is the answer.

Today I strolled through Hongdae's Red Road and stopped by MANDOO BAR, a self-proclaimed world-first fusion K-gyoza spot that's perfect for eating one-handed on the go! Dumplings are such a familiar food for us Koreans, but here they're reinvented with quirky toppings that make it a genuinely exciting foodie hotspot.

Getting there and how QR ordering works

MANDOO BAR sits right on Hongdae's central Red Road street, so it's extremely accessible and easy to find.

There's a Photoism shop on the 1st floor, and right above it, MANDOO BAR — the huge sign catches your eye instantly.

For takeout, you scan the QR code on the 1st-floor banner to order and pay entirely from your phone, then head up to the 2nd floor to pick up once you get the notification — no waiting around, super convenient.

Inside the 2nd floor: folding-door bar seats and Orion draft beer

Head up to the 2nd floor for pickup and a warm, comfortable wood-toned hall opens up. Beyond the charm of a takeout specialist, there are neatly arranged 2–4 person tables inside, plus bar (datzzi) seats by the wide-open folding doors where you can eat while watching Red Road street go by.

As the wooden sign on the wall hints, they also serve crisp, refreshing Orion THE DRAFT beer, which pairs wonderfully with freshly grilled gyoza for a fantastic 'gyoza-and-beer' combo!

Taking out Mexican taco gyoza and Ppuring gyoza

That day, I picked up one Mexican Taco Gyoza with Guacamole and one Ppuring Gyoza to eat easily while walking the street. FYI, you can choose the filling — kimchi, meat, or half-and-half! I went with half-and-half.

I took the packed gyoza out and grabbed an outdoor bench right on Red Road, but the sun was way too hot, so I ended up eating them at home haha!! (Though with the nice weather these days, eating on a bench while soaking up Hongdae's energy would probably feel like more of a picnic vibe.)

Mexican taco gyoza with guacamole (13,000 won)

Crispy-fried K-gyoza piled high with exotic Mexican taco sauce and soft guacamole. Nachos come included too, so it really felt like eating actual Mexican food.

The moment I bit in, the spicy-tangy taco seasoning blended with the dumpling's juicy filling!! The dumpling-plus-Mexican combo is such an odd pairing but it worked, it was delicious haha.

Ppuring gyoza (9,000 won)

The textbook definition of sweet-and-salty, with addictive cheese seasoning dusted on top like snow.

That irresistibly salty-sweet powder pairs incredibly well with the juicy dumpling filling!!!

Who is MANDOO BAR a good fit for?

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a must-visit foodie hotspot while exploring Hongdae's Red Road. Order the handmade fusion-topped gyoza you can't find anywhere else via QR on the 1st floor, pick it up right away, and enjoy it with a cold Orion draft beer on an outdoor bench along Red Road! It's a fitting champion of Hongdae street food.
