Hi everyone, this is Gochujang :) A little while ago, I had dinner with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday! I was thinking about what to eat for her birthday, and I chose shabu-shabu — a menu the whole family could enjoy without any burden.

This time we visited < Shabu in Seoul Hapjeong Branch >. It's a shabu-shabu place with a clean, nice atmosphere that uses premium meat, so it seemed like a good spot for a family birthday party or gathering. I made a reservation for 4 people in advance and visited. From the meat to the vegetables, the broth, and finally the egg porridge, everything was clean and enjoyable, and we had a great birthday party. Today I'll share my story about the 'Hapjeong shabu-shabu restaurant Shabu in Seoul' that I actually visited.

How to walk from Hapjeong Station, and where to park

Shabu in Seoul Hapjeong Branch is located in Delight Square 1, right next to Hapjeong Station!

If you're taking the subway, head toward Exit 8 of Hapjeong Station, but instead of going straight up the exit, take the passage on the right marked 'Way to Kyobo Bookstore.' For parking, be sure to use the Delight Square 1 parking lot. Depending on how long you dine, you can get up to 3 hours free parking!!

Private rooms and group seating for a family gathering

The moment I walked in, what struck me was how clean and quiet the atmosphere was!

It felt warm yet sophisticated! Unlike the noisy, hectic feel of all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu places, this was a relatively relaxed and comfortable space to eat in.

One big advantage is that they have private rooms and group seating. The room can apparently accommodate anywhere from a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 10 people. Since you can dine in a separate space, it's great for planning a family birthday party, a parent's birthday, or any kind of gathering privately.

There were 4 of us that day, and the tables weren't cramped at all — we could chat comfortably while eating! I'd definitely recommend this Hapjeong Station shabu-shabu restaurant if you're looking for a place for a birthday party or family gathering in Hapjeong.

What the family of four ordered, and why they chose clear mushroom broth

Unlike typical shabu-shabu restaurants, Shabu in Seoul is a Hapjeong shabu-shabu specialty restaurant where you can choose from a variety of meat types.

1++ hanwoo (Korean beef) bottom round, prime Angus chuck flat, prime Angus chuck short rib, Black Nine wagyu ribeye, and even 1st-grade black pork belly and neck! Our family ordered two servings of the 1st-grade black pork belly shabu set (₩23,000), two servings of the prime Angus chuck flat shabu set (₩25,000), and an add-on of mixed vegetables and mushrooms (₩13,000) that day.

And you can't leave out the broth in shabu-shabu! At Shabu in Seoul, you can choose from various broths like clear mushroom, spicy mushroom, blue crab miso, and sukiyaki. We chose the 'clear mushroom broth' that day. Putting meat and vegetables into a clean broth seemed like it would be easy for the whole family to enjoy without feeling heavy.

How the black pork belly and Angus chuck flat tasted

Finally time to dig in! The visuals of the meat that arrived first were quite clean.

The meat, sliced thin and precisely, was beautifully arranged, giving off a somewhat upscale feel even though it's shabu-shabu.

I think shabu-shabu is fun because the broth's flavor changes as you add in various ingredients like this. Above all, the clear mushroom broth stayed clean overall, so it wasn't heavy even after we kept adding meat.

I fell completely in love with the charm of shabu-shabu, which gets tastier the more you eat. A place where you can eat a lot, healthily and deliciously!!

Since it was my mom's birthday, the staff gave us a noruguengdengi mushroom (lion's mane mushroom) too~!

And then, the true finale of shabu-shabu! Egg porridge. After finishing all the meat and vegetables, we made egg porridge with the remaining broth. Even though we'd already eaten plenty of meat and vegetables, apparently there's always room for porridge haha. That day, the whole family finished up fully satisfied and full.

I'd recommend Shabu in Seoul Hapjeong Branch as a great Hapjeong Station shabu-shabu restaurant for group gatherings and birthday parties :)
