Last week, after finishing my regular hospital checkup, I visited Songnim Bok, a local Seongsu-dong favorite for unlimited-refill eel. My aunt hasn't been feeling great lately and neither have I, so we figured we should eat something good for us. Two of us for the price of one!! Thanks to a half-price discount chance haha, nice.

Where is Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch, and what does it look like?

Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch is at 148 Seongdeokjeong-gil, 1st floor, Seongdong-gu, between Konkuk University and Seongsu stations on Line 2. It's a bit tucked away, so there aren't many people around nearby. The exterior is easy to spot at a glance. The entrance is a sliding door.

The inside is comfortable and a cozy size too. It has that charming pocha (street tent bar) kind of vibe~ Good atmosphere for having a drink alongside the eel.

The 2-hour refill limit, how the grilling works and the lunch menu

At Songnim Bok you can eat as much as you want within a 2-hour limit. There's a helpful guide on how to grill the eel nicely too (apparently you should start with the skin side). Takeout is also available 👏 good option for anyone living nearby. On a cool day like this, grilling outside is also the best haha. The origin info and menu are clearly posted too. Since they mostly use domestic ingredients, the quality seems good. There's also a good lunch menu for people who visit around noon — eel soup, galbitang, yukgaejang, buckwheat makguksu!

Proof of my half-price discount haha, blogging hard sometimes pays off with sponsorships, total win

I should really be working harder though… lol. My laziness that had been dormant is back these days. Guess this is when you take a break haha.

What you get with unlimited refills, from eel to chicken neck

Eel, pork, chicken neck, duck neck, shredded ginger, pickled onion, green onion kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, garlic, chili, lettuce, pickled cabbage, and more are all available for unlimited refills haha. At first the staff brings out one of each type of meat and eel, and after that you can go grab more yourself.

The portions weren't as big as they used to be, but after about three pieces each, both my aunt and I were completely full 😋 This was my first time trying chicken neck, and it was soft and chewy. The pork was also nice and clean-tasting, probably because the fat was rendered off well over the charcoal.

Put it on and wait. Mouth-watering already hahaha. Getting golden brown, crispy outside and juicy inside, in progress~

Three combinations worth trying at Songnim Bok Jangeo

We tried mixing a few different combinations at Songnim Bok.

  • Eel + green onion kimchi
  • Pork + aged cabbage kimchi
  • Lettuce wrap + rice + eel sauce

However you eat it, it's all delicious 😋😋😋 Felt like energy surging through my body. The eel has a crispy outside and moist inside, made even crispier over charcoal. The chicken neck and pork belly also had a nice chewy texture and were seasoned just right. The lettuce was quite fresh too, which I really loved.

Where to go in Seongsu after dinner

There's a call bell too, so you can easily flag down staff. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but they have everything you need. So for an unlimited-refill spot, the value for the taste seems pretty good! It's also close to Ttukseom Hangang Park and the Seongsu café street, so it's a great spot to eat your fill and then stroll along the Han River or explore the café street.

The eel meat is thick with a nice bite to it. My stomach issues weren't fully resolved yet, so it was a bit of a shame I couldn't eat as much as I wanted.

Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch, a local Seongsu-dong favorite, is a good-value restaurant offering unlimited refills of freshwater eel, pork belly, and chicken neck. A great place to enjoy fresh eel and meat as much as you want! Recommended for group gatherings, family meals, friends, couples, and even foreign visitors — a solid Seongsu unlimited-refill eel spot 👍
