Why we chose Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom for a Wangsimni group dinner

My friends and I decided to eat some proper Korean BBQ to celebrate the start of the semester, and we were trying to figure out where to go. Turns out there's a Korean pork BBQ spot in Haengdang-dong known for unlimited side refills, so we checked it out.

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom

It was about a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Wangsimni Station, so getting there was easy.

You could tell from the outside — the place was way bigger than I expected!

With over 100 seats, the interior is genuinely spacious. The tables are spread out generously too, so it looks great for group gatherings.

Looking at the menu, you can see they serve both beef and pork. Except for the beef brisket (chadolbagi), everything is Korean beef and pork, which was reassuring ^^

Here are the banchan (side dishes) that come standard. Can you see how fresh the lettuce and perilla leaves are?! There was also a nice variety of sides to go with the meat, like fresh kimchi and myeongi namul (mountain garlic leaves) 💕

How do the unlimited side refills work?

This is honestly the biggest perk of Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom — order meat per person and you get unlimited side dishes included. Stew, naengmyeon, noodles, scorched rice — all unlimited >< Seriously, how does the owner make any money giving this much service...

Four diners, starting with pork belly and skirt meat for four

There were four of us, so we started by ordering four servings.

  • Pork belly ₩20,000
  • Skirt meat (galmaegisal) ₩20,000

Both the pork belly and skirt meat had incredible color, probably because it's all domestic pork. The skirt meat in particular was clearly well-trimmed haha.

The staff grilled everything themselves from start to finish on a heated cauldron-lid grill! They arranged the onions and potatoes that came with it in a neat circle around the meat, and even grilled the napa cabbage kimchi in the pork fat — this owner really knows food, hats off 👍

Free corkage at Pujutgan, with no bottle size limit

And one more important thing — free corkage. We were able to bring our own drinks with zero hassle. No size limit either, which genuinely surprised me.

Sake brought in under free corkage alongside the meat spread

Ah, the whole time it was grilling, the smell was so good it was hard to wait ㅠㅠ

We poured the sake we brought and toasted right away — golden, crispy meat definitely calls for a drink.

We wrapped grilled garlic and kimchi in fresh lettuce for a proper ssam (wrap).

Complimentary doenjang-jjigae and kimchi-jjigae, both packed with ingredients

Soon our ordered doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) arrived. How can there be this much tofu in something that's free?! Plenty of mushrooms and meat in there too 😆

Adding three more servings: pork neck and pork jowl

The meat was so good we ended up ordering three more servings.

  • Pork neck (mokal) ₩20,000
  • Pork jowl (hangjeongsal) ₩20,000

This time we ordered the neck and jowl cuts we hadn't tried yet. Same story — the color was gorgeous haha. They grilled the additional order for us too, all the way through. If you're having a gathering here, you can just focus on eating, completely hassle-free.

While waiting for the meat to cook, the kimchi-jjigae arrived after the doenjang-jjigae. It was loaded with ingredients too — lots of tofu, and I was surprised by how much thick meat was in it. Whatever else you order, definitely try this kimchi-jjigae ><

We finished off the pork neck with myeongi namul topped with caramelized onions. Trying different combinations made it even more enjoyable.

Finishing with chilled mul-naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles)

We could choose between bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), and went with the refreshing mul naengmyeon. Even though it was complimentary, it came out fully loaded with cucumber and egg — a properly made bowl. Honestly better than naengmyeon we've paid for elsewhere ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Final verdict on Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom

A great-value Haengdang Market spot where you can eat until you're stuffed.
