Frozen samgyeopsal BBQ near Sangwangsimni, Seoul: Janghyeungjip

Isn't the weather so nice and breezy lately~ Perfect weather for outdoor dining. So we headed to Janghyeungjip to enjoy exactly that. Janghyeungjip Main Branch is a frozen samgyeopsal spot located between Sindang and Sangwangsimni stations. It's in the Tenz Hill shopping mall.

Even though the meat here is frozen, it's so tender and delicious that I have to recommend it. It's also perfect for outdoor dining, so I confidently recommend it to you all. Let's get started on my honest review of Janghyeungjip!

This is the exterior of Janghyeungjip. It's located on the first floor of Tenz Hill Mall. It's a restaurant found between Sindang, Sangwangsimni, and Sinseoldong stations.

Janghyeungjip uses 100% selected domestic pork, and comes with a generous 13-side dish spread. The highlight here is apparently the farm-direct Cheongdo minari (water celery) haha.

Why outdoor seating near Sangwangsimni requires a reservation

Janghyeungjip's outdoor seating is famous. It's known as an outdoor dining spot near Sangwangsimni, but the tables are limited, so it's first-come or reservation required. I actually tried to come here for outdoor seating before but failed because of the wait. I wanted to enjoy the outdoor tables again today too, but we arrived a bit early and the tables weren't set up yet, so we ended up eating inside haha. I'll have to try the Janghyeungjip outdoor seating again next time haha.

Frozen samgyeopsal (pork belly) is ₩15,000, frozen flower pork neck is ₩15,000, chadolbagi (beef brisket) is ₩25,000, medium combo is ₩55,000, large combo is ₩80,000. For sides, there's a variety including naengmyeon (cold noodles), jjapagetti, minari fried rice, soy egg rice, and more.

What comes with the 13-side dish spread?

Ta-da, this is the 13-side dish spread. So generous, right.

Here's a guide on how to enjoy Janghyeungjip the tasty way, for your reference.

A cozy tray comes with a bunch of side dishes. Lettuce wraps, green onion strips, bracken fern, corn cheese, kimchi, green onion kimchi, sausage, minari. So much.

4 adults, 1 baby, 11 servings total

There were 4 adults and 1 baby in our group. Janghyeungjip has baby chairs!! For our first order, we got 2 servings of frozen flower pork neck and 2 servings of frozen samgyeopsal. Then we ordered the same again for round two — 2 servings of flower pork neck, 2 of samgyeopsal — and then added 3 more servings of samgyeopsal for round three. In total, we ate 11 servings haha. We were completely stuffed with meat!! It was so delicious.

Ta-da, doesn't it look so appetizing. It's been so long since I've grilled samgyeopsal on foil like this! Totally generous portions~~

Now let's grill this meat up nicely. Since it's thin, it cooks fast. Adding a little pepper makes it even better!

The meat was so juicy and tender that even the baby ate it really well. Cutting it into small pieces like this meant the baby could enjoy it too, which made me happy.

This is the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that comes as a basic side. Even though it's just the complimentary version, it was so tasty. Exactly the kind of doenjang jjigae you want at a good BBQ place~~

Dipping the meat in sesame oil makes it even more savory.

Why is this frozen samgyeopsal so tender?

Dipping it in ssamjang (dipping sauce) is delicious. Why is the meat so tender? Frozen samgyeopsal is usually a bit dry, but here it's really juicy and soft.

The green onion kimchi here was really delicious. Beyond expectations! Wrapping the samgyeopsal with green onion kimchi was unbelievably good.

The meat pieces are nice and big. Wrapping them with green onion strips makes it super tasty haha. This is a real meat wrap~~~

It's tender and melts in your mouth ㅠㅠ With so many side dishes, we kept mixing up the combos so it never got boring, and we just kept eating.

Round two of ordering: 2 more servings of samgyeopsal, 2 more of pork neck. Starting fresh again. Devouring the meat like a storm!

The key is eating it with minari

The key point at Janghyeungjip is eating it with minari (water celery). Eating it together with minari adds a fragrant aroma that makes it even more delicious.

Last round, third order of meat, 3 servings of samgyeopsal! Bursting with meat now haha. The samgyeopsal here really is high quality.

Wrapped it up and ate it, yum! It's been so long since I had samgyeopsal, but I ate it so satisfyingly and deliciously ❤️
