Uijeongbu pork belly dinner with kids and baby chairs: Cheonpo Hoegwan
In short
Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch is a minari-and-kimchi pork belly restaurant a 5-minute walk from Uijeongbu Station in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. Visiting for dinner with the kids, the writer ordered three servings of pork belly (200g each) and freshly cooked stone-pot rice, plus the complimentary beef tartare side, a self-made minari kimchi pancake and a sungnyung (scorched rice tea) finish. With baby chairs and kids' spoons and forks on hand, Cheonpo Hoegwan is an easy pick for a family dinner out.

A must-visit near Uijeongbu Station: minari and kimchi pork belly at Cheonpo Hoegwan. My kids were craving pork belly, so we went to Cheonpo Hoegwan in Uijeongbu, where you can grill minari (water celery) and kimchi right alongside the meat. On top of the meat, they also serve freshly made stone-pot rice, so we came away having eaten a really satisfying dinner.

There's parking for about 3 cars in front, and we got lucky and parked right out front!

With more than 10 tables and Naver reservations available, it's a good idea to book ahead before visiting. When I was there, I even spotted a table hosting a gathering for wedding invitations, haha.

They also have stone-pot rice cookers set up in one corner, so you can enjoy freshly made stone-pot rice too!

Cheonpo Hoegwan menu and what the family ordered
Cheonpo Hoegwan's signature dishes are pork belly and beef rolls, and they also serve Seoul bulgogi and sundae gopchang jeongol (blood sausage and beef tripe hot pot). Since they open for lunch, they also have lunch specials — inexpensive and served with stone-pot rice included, so it looks like a great spot for a hearty lunch too ☺️. We came for dinner, so we ordered three servings of pork belly and freshly made stone-pot rice~!

Beef tartare served free with the meal
Cheonpo Hoegwan serves beef tartare (yukhoe) as a basic side dish! My eldest is obsessed with beef tartare, so I just had a taste and she ate a whole plate by herself, haha. You can also order more, for reference.

The basket of wrap vegetables, minari included
Next, the wrap vegetable basket comes generously filled with minari, perilla leaves, lettuce, and peppers. Minari comes at no extra charge, too, so it was nice to enjoy it with the meat without worrying about the bill 😄

There's a spicy sauce, ssamjang, and a sauce made with salt, blue garlic, and chili — and it went so well with the meat, it was seriously delicious. One more thing! They give you minari kimchi pancake batter as a default — you can cook it yourself while the meat grills, haha.

The seasoning was just right, and since it's grilled fresh and warm right there, it tasted even better!
200g pork belly grilled with minari and kimchi on cast iron
As soon as the pork belly came out, a staff member put it straight on the grill, along with minari, kimchi, scallion strips, and radish salad, so we could start grilling right away 🐷

A single serving here is 200g, so it's quite a generous portion! The meat quality was great too — total pass 👍🏻

They diligently grilled it to a nice golden-brown, haha. Maybe because it's a cast-iron grill, but the meat browned up especially well!

Stone-pot rice and sungnyung: the part the kids ate most
The freshly made stone-pot rice had a subtle pink tint and just the right stickiness, so the kids ate it up even better 🍚. We scooped the rice out and had them start on the sungnyung (scorched rice tea) on standby, haha.

Once the meat was nicely grilled, we started mixing and matching it with all the sides~! The sauce with blue garlic and chili was exactly to my taste, and the minari and wrap vegetables were fresh and lovely too. They said the kimchi is made with domestic Haenam cabbage, and maybe that's why it felt extra crunchy and delicious 🥹

At the end, we finished off warmly with the sungnyung they'd prepared ahead of time — a really satisfying dinner! My daughter said the sungnyung and the meat were both so good that she wants to come back again 😋
Is Cheonpo Hoegwan worth it for a family dinner? Final thoughts
Grilling pork belly together with minari and kimchi is a combination that just can't go wrong, and we enjoyed it deliciously right to the end without getting tired of it. With freshly made stone-pot rice and sungnyung to finish, I felt like I'd chosen a great spot for a family dinner out! Next time, I'd love to come back and try another signature dish — the beef rolls — at Cheonpo Hoegwan 🙂
