I found a new spot to love near Uijeongbu Station! A minari pork belly restaurant, my favorite kind ✨ And they give unlimited refills on minari, too? The meat quality was great and the side dishes were excellent — this was Cheonpo Hoegwan, let me show you around.

It's a pork belly restaurant on the new town side of Uijeongbu Station. It's close to the public health center and near the light rail station too. I sometimes go to Manpo Galbi for pork ribs, and turns out this is their sister restaurant! I thought the name sounded familiar — both Cheonpo and Manpo are delicious. ✨

The interior is clean and tidy. The staff were kind and quick to help. They also take group reservations, up to 70 people. I took my photos late in the evening as the crowd thinned out, so there aren't people in the shots, but during mealtimes it was pretty busy — a bit lively and bustling.

Pork belly at ₩16,000 for 200g: three servings for two people

We ordered three servings of pork belly for two people. Each serving is 200g and only ₩16,000, so the value is top-notch ✨ They say it's water-aged for over 14 days at 1.5℃. The color looked great and it looked super generous!

Beef tartare as a free side dish and unlimited minari refills

Cheonpo Hoegwan serves beef tartare (yukhoe) as a standard side dish. Manpo also had yukhoe, and turns out Cheonpo does too. I was hungry, so I happily dug in before the meat was even cooked. 😊 It was well seasoned!

Kimchi made with Haenam cabbage, along with parsley, radish salad, and minari are placed on the grill as standard, and there's more minari served in a bundle of wrapping greens too. If you run low, refills are unlimited. Even this kimchi tasted fresh — perfectly ripened. The radish salad was great too, and paired really well with the pork belly.

The cheongyang chili ssamjang in the ttukbaegi is not refillable

There are various dipping sauces, and a ttukbaegi (stone pot) of cheongyang chili ssamjang comes on the side separately. (Maybe it's mussel doenjang paste?) This one, they said, doesn't get refilled! I think I mostly dipped my meat in this one. Hehe, when wrapping a bite, dropping one chili into the ttukbaegi ssamjang gave it just the right spicy kick.

Grilling your own minari kimchi pancake at the table

Getting a self-cook minari kimchi pancake was a unique and delicious touch. ✨ The batter was really well made. Real cooking skill going on there. 👏🏻👏🏻

I burst out laughing at the phrase "life is meat within meat..." and was impressed by my friend's pancake-flipping skills — crispy on the edges, moist inside. The texture and flavor were spot on. The minari aroma came through too, making it taste even better. It seemed perfect with beer, so we ordered some and enjoyed it. 🍻 A good time with a drink 😊

How the aged pork belly grills and tastes

They grilled all three servings at once! Since the side dishes come already placed on the grill from the start, there's no extra hassle — nice and convenient.

The meat was really thick. I love thick-cut meat.

Golden brown, and even the sizzle sounds delicious. 💗

Wow, I'm honestly bad at grilling meat, but my friend cooked it evenly like a pro, as if the restaurant staff had done it. Haha. Because it's aged, even seared crispy the juices stayed locked in and the texture was soft! No matter how you grill it, this new-town Uijeongbu pork belly restaurant tastes great!

Stone-pot rice comes free at lunch

We also ordered stone-pot rice to go with the meal. 💗 Stone-pot rice is love! And apparently this delicious rice is provided for free during lunch hours. It didn't look like plain white rice — seemed like some special grain, but I can't recall the name... anyway, the rice itself was delicious!

The pork belly had just the right ratio of lean meat to fat, so it was nutty and delicious, with a soft, chewy texture!

Fully grilled pork belly with side dishes

We wrapped the meat in fresh lettuce with various fillings, and dipped it in the individual sesame sauce provided. It was nice being able to mix and match with different sauces for variety. ✨

Finishing with ₩3,000 fried rice and sungnyung

Cheonpo Hoegwan's fried rice is ₩3,000, and even one order comes in a generous portion. We were already super full, but felt like we'd regret skipping it, so we ordered one to share. They put in a generous amount of seaweed flakes and cheese powder, and you can choose whether to add minari too. Then they crack an egg right in the center. Top-notch quality! And it's only three thousand won...! We finished with sungnyung made from the stone-pot rice 😋 — perfect dessert (?) for this chillier weather, haha.

Is Cheonpo Hoegwan in Uijeongbu worth it? Final verdict

The spread was so generous that we got to eat a wide variety of dishes to our heart's content. If you're looking for a good value, tasty pork belly restaurant near Uijeongbu Station, I'd recommend this place! Getting to enjoy beef tartare and kimchi pancake as extras made it even better. I'll definitely come back again. 😋
