What kind of restaurant is Gatjidong Noeun Branch?
Gatjidong is a Japanese restaurant in Noeun-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon, known for pork cutlet, salmon, udon, rice bowls, and curry. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00 with last order at 20:30, offers roadside parking, and does delivery, takeout, and has baby chairs available.

Maybe because it's a dish almost everyone likes, the place was packed even in the early evening. Pork cutlet especially!!!!! Every guy loves it, and honestly as a girl I crave it too sometimes, so I really love it~ Let me tell you about Gatjidong's Japanese-style menu and give you my honest review after eating there.

There's a standing signboard right at the entrance that lets you see Gatjidong's whole lineup at a glance. Just look for the eye-catching yellow sign — that's Gatjidong 💛

Seating and atmosphere: is Gatjidong good for a family dinner?
Gatjidong Noeun Branch has plenty of tables, so it works well for group visits and also for a casual meal with friends or family. Since it's a Daejeon pork cutlet spot that serves generous portions at a reasonable price, I saw a lot of families with growing kids there.

Photos of the spicy katsu curry and the homemade Korean-style chicken rice bowl, oyakodon, were hanging on the wall and they looked so good!! Hahaha.
Gatjidong's unlimited broth, soup and rice

This Yuseong, Daejeon favorite offers unlimited broth, soup, and rice! You can freely help yourself at the self-service corner. The basic mushroom soup that's a must with pork cutlet is great as an appetizer, and it's such a nice touch that it's unlimited so anyone eating a lot of cutlet and rice can enjoy it without worry.

At the self-service bar you could grab bowls, kimchi, and crunchy pickled radish.

The classic pork cutlet that comes to mind whenever you think of cutlet is here, of course, and there are also various set menu combos at great value. The handmade cutlet, breaded piece by piece, has a tenderness that's on a totally different level from other places — I highly recommend it‼️
How did the classic pork cutlet taste?

Gatjidong's classic pork cutlet has breading fried to just the right thickness, and it's generously drizzled with cutlet sauce so you can coat every bite evenly. With that much sauce it might look salty, but it's less salty than it looks and has a pleasantly sweet seasoning that suited me well.
One bite and you can tell right away that they used good oil! There's no smell or residue clinging to the oil at all — the breading is clean and crisp, wrapping around your mouth while the sauce coats everything and melts smoothly 👍🏻

The knife glides through easily, slicing it into perfectly bite-sized pieces, revealing tender, rosy-pink meat inside. The meat quality looks great, and above all, since it's handmade, the meat is SO~~~ tender!
Just looking at the glossy sauce and the thick cutlet, it's such a satisfying, generous portion at a great price. The refreshing side salad that comes with it perks your mouth back up right when you're starting to get tired of the cutlet ❗️❗️
Fish cake skewer udon at Gatjidong

While debating what soup dish to pair with the cutlet, we ordered the classic fish cake udon — the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a warm, brothy udon. The broth, steeped with bonito flakes, was full of umami, and the udon noodles came out freshly cooked without going soft, keeping that springy, chewy bite. Two whole fish cake skewers were in the bowl, and my sister had a blast pulling them off like eating oden skewers, eating it with real enjoyment.

Fish cake skewers of all different sizes and shapes~~
