Hanam Misa Chinese restaurant for weekend dinner with kids: O Hyeongje

In short

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a nurungjitang (crispy rice soup) Chinese restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi. A family of four — the writer, her husband and two children — visited on a weekend evening and ordered the seafood nurungjitang at 18,000 won plus the original-size fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork); both children ate well, thanks to the single-serving stone pots with broth poured at the table and the crisp-outside, chewy-inside pork. With a wide dining room and free parking by the ground floor, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang works well for a family meal or a family gathering.

Why O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang suits a family dinner in Hanam Misa

My husband, our two kids and I finally went out for a proper family meal together over the weekend. This time we visited O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang (오형제황제누룽지탕) Hanam Misa Main Branch.

Normally, eating out with the kids means stressing over what to order, so we usually leave them at home haha. But this place had food that's great for adults and also had menus the kids could eat too, so it worked out well as a family dinner spot!! Especially the combo we had that day — seafood nurungjitang and fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk — that pairing was the best haha.

Free parking lot around the ground floor of the building

Parking is also easy since there's a spacious free lot around the ground floor of the building!

How spacious is the dining room at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang?

Spacious, clean entrance of the restaurant

Walking in, the interior was bigger and cleaner than I expected. There were so many people I couldn't get a photo of the inside T.T It was genuinely packed even on a weekend evening. The tables were spaced generously too, so the whole vibe felt relaxed — even with two kids in tow, it wasn't uncomfortable at all.

Widely spaced tables suited for family dining

It's also great for family groups. The tables are wide and roomy, so it felt perfect for dining with parents, or for a family gathering or company dinner with several people.

Generous seating good for family gatherings

And a really cool detail — a robot delivers the food!!!

The basic side dishes were neat and tasty too. The ones I kept reaching for were the salad, salted squid jeotgal, and white kimchi!

Neatly arranged basic side dishes

The main dish we ordered that day was the seafood nurungjitang. ₩18,000.

Table setting with the seafood nurungjitang stone pot

Instead of just bringing out a finished bowl of nurungjitang, they pour the hot broth right at the table in front of you, which made it fun to watch! I was filming so the server got a little nervous and spilled some of the rice crust haha. As the boiling hot broth hits the sizzling stone pot it makes this loud sizzzzle sound, and the kids stared at it in wonder!

Inside the hot stone pot, the crispy rice slowly soaks up the broth and turns softer and softer.

Best of all, the seafood nurungjitang is packed with vegetables, so the broth itself is rich and delicious.

As the weather cools down, this is exactly the kind of warm one-bowl dish you start craving.

With seafood, vegetables and all sorts of ingredients in there, even eating out felt healthy and filling. Eating out usually makes me feel a bit guilty toward the kids haha, but since this was basically a healthy meal, I felt at ease.

For anyone in Hanam looking for a nourishing meal, the seafood nurungjitang is the best menu item at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang!

You can also add abalone here, and there's a wide range of other menu items.

Single-serving stone pots: easy eating with two kids

One thing I really liked about O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang's seafood nurungjitang is that instead of everyone sharing from one big pot, each person's portion is cooked separately — it's a neat, unusual touch!

An individually cooked stone pot of nurungjitang

With everyone getting their own individual stone pot, there was no need to portion things out for each other during the family meal, which made things easy.

Nurungjitang portioned out onto a small plate

The kids ate well once we portioned it out for them like this — shrimp, broccoli, squid, bell pepper, mushrooms and more. They ate so well this time that honestly we should have just ordered them their own bowl haha.

Fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk that beat expectations

Original-size fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk

Seafood nurungjitang alone felt like it wouldn't be quite enough, so we also ordered the fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk. There's a mini version too, but I just went with the original larger portion. Definitely glad I ordered the bigger size.

A generously portioned plate of fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk

The fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk was honestly better than I expected. I'd worried that a seafood nurungjitang place might not do tangsuyuk well, but that worry turned out to be completely unnecessary.

Tangsuyuk sauce served on the side

First of all, I loved that the tangsuyuk and sauce came separately!!! The sauce wasn't too sour or sharp — it had a nice sweet-and-tangy balance that paired perfectly with the crispy pork.

Crispy tangsuyuk dipped in the sauce

The batter was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. You could really taste that distinctive glutinous rice chewiness — a crispy-outside, chewy-inside style of tangsuyuk!

Best of all, the meat wasn't tough at all — it was tender. That made it an easy texture for the kids to eat without any trouble, and everyone cleaned their plate.

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang for family gatherings and group dinners in Hanam Misa

The combination of the tangsuyuk and the nurungjitang broth worked really well together and was delicious. O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is the kind of place that'll come to mind whenever I want a warm seafood nurungjitang in Hanam!! The store is spacious and comfortable, parking is convenient, and both the nurungjitang and the fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk were delicious — it was a satisfying choice for a family meal out. If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant in Misa for a family outing, a meal with parents, a family gathering, or a company dinner, I recommend O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang's Hanam seafood nurungjitang.
