Hanam Misa café for raw sugar espresso and lemon tiramisu: Damgeum

In short

Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch is an Italian-style handmade gelato and dessert café in the Monolounge complex in Misa Riverside City, Hanam, Gyeonggi. From a tall bar seat inside, the writer ordered the Italian espresso served with raw sugar and a lemon tiramisu: the espresso went down fast once the sugar was cracked and stirred in, and the tiramisu was refreshing rather than too sweet or too sour. Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch also validates 30 minutes of parking, so it is an easy pick in Misa for properly made espresso and dessert.

On an afternoon when I was craving something sweet, I went looking for a gelato place in Hanam's Misa Riverside City that claims to recreate the real taste of Italy! Not the artificial sweetness you get at mass-market ice cream shops, but handmade premium dessert made fresh daily by a chef in the authentic Italian way — that's what made me excited for Damgeum Gelato. It's Misa's first and only handmade premium dessert café certified by the Italian government (Ospitalità Italiana)!

Where is Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch, and where do you park?

Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch is located near Hanam Sports Complex and Misari Canoe Park! It's inside the Monolounge complex parking lot, so I didn't have to worry about parking at all.

Come in through the Monolounge parking lot entrance (go straight ahead), turn right immediately, and through that door you'll spot Damgeum Gelato right away!

This is the back entrance that connects straight in! And parking gets 30 minutes free.

Even from a distance, Damgeum Gelato has that unmistakable Italian café feel!

The moment I stepped in, a warm yet stylish Italian-inspired interior greeted me! It had a clean, cozy atmosphere where everyone could relax — from families with young kids to couples on dates.

I sat at the slightly raised bar seat toward the back. It felt like being at an actual espresso bar haha.

What sets Damgeum Gelato apart is that they keep a gelatiere trained at an Italian gelato university and a barista trained at an Italian barista school on staff, delivering an authentically Italian taste!

They also don't use pre-made products or pastes — apparently everything from prepping natural ingredients to making the base is done by hand in the store. By keeping sugar and fat low and raising the ratio of raw ingredients, they get a less chewy but cleaner, lighter texture, and since there are no chemical additives or preservatives at all, it seems safe enough to feed to kids without worry.

What we ordered: Italian espresso with raw sugar and lemon tiramisu

That day at Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch, I ordered Italian espresso and lemon tiramisu. An espresso pulled in the true Italian style!

There's raw sugar inside, so you crack it and stir it in. I do make it this way at home too haha, but the machine's different, the beans are different, and above all a professional was pulling the shot — it was seriously, seriously delicious!

I meant to save a little to have with the lemon tiramisu, but I ended up sipping it all away in no time >_<

The lemon tiramisu didn't seem to have any coffee in it. Overall it was just lemon, lemon, lemon! haha

The tartness of the lemon and the smooth, rich flavor characteristic of tiramisu came together beautifully — not too sweet and not too sour. If I visit Damgeum again, I'm definitely ordering this one again! hahaha

If you want to enjoy properly made handmade gelato or deep, rich espresso in Hanam Misa, I highly recommend stopping by without hesitation!
