Gochujang Diablo pizza and house ranch sauce in Seongnam: Jackson

Jackson Pizza is one of my favorite pizza spots — whenever I'm craving that rich, dense American-style taste, I always end up back here. Today I visited a well-known Seongnam pizza spot, Jackson Pizza Wirye Branch. 😊

The shopping center parking lot is huge and well laid out, so even as a beginner driver I could park comfortably. When I asked the staff to register my car, they gave me a full three hours free, so I could enjoy my meal without worrying about the clock.

An interior that feels straight out of America

The moment I walked in, the interior caught my eye — it felt just like a hip pizza place in the US.

I usually only get Jackson Pizza as takeout or delivery, so I didn't even know you could eat in — but the Wirye branch has a really pleasant dining hall, so it was great to eat there in person. While I was visiting, there happened to be a kids' birthday party going on in one corner of the restaurant. It would also be a great spot for family meals or gatherings. Ordering is simple, done through a QR code on the table.

Pickles and the special ranch sauce come with one free refill, and instead of regular filtered water, you get bottled water once — which felt extra hygienic. 😊

The new Diablo pizza: pairing with gochujang sauce

True to its reputation as a Seongnam pizza spot, they had a variety of menus that sounded delicious just from their names — Margherita, Pepperoni, Greekology, and more. While I was debating what to order, a poster for a new menu item on the wall caught my eye. It was the Diablo pizza, made with a spicy gochujang sauce!

Pizza with gochujang — such an unimaginable combination that I got curious and ordered it right away. 😊 Along with the Diablo pizza, I couldn't skip the Legend pizza, loaded with basil pesto, which I already love. And since cola is the inseparable best friend of pizza, I ordered that too — the owner brought it out with a cold glass of ice, and I poured it in and drank it down, wonderfully refreshing.

Since the pizzas were freshly baked in the oven, there was about a 15-minute wait! When the pizzas finally arrived, my mouth was watering! 😍

The first one I tried was the Diablo pizza — just looking at its spicy red visual was enough to stir up my appetite.

On top of a spicy gochujang tomato sauce base, it was generously piled with salty pepperoni, roasted bell peppers, and olives.

On the first bite, I thought it was quite spicy — but it wasn't just spicy for the sake of it, it had an addictive charm that kept me reaching for more.

How was the five-cheese Legend pizza?

Next, I tried the Legend pizza, generously loaded with basil pesto, mozzarella cheese, grana padano cheese, parmesan cheese, and mascarpone cheese.

Eating it fresh out of the oven at the restaurant, rather than after delivery, definitely made the flavor and richness of the cheese come alive several times over.

The nutty crunch of nuts popping up here and there blended perfectly with the layered cheese flavors.

And the crust — so crispy and salty, it was incredible.

Why the house ranch sauce at the Wirye branch is different

It's delicious on its own, but dipping into Jackson Pizza's ranch sauce takes the flavor up another level.

In particular, this Wirye branch's ranch sauce felt much more savory and fresh than other branches, which suited my taste perfectly. It turns out this location makes its ranch sauce by hand, in-house! No wonder it tasted different.
