Kid-friendly mushroom kalguksu in Giheung, Yongin: Deungchon
In short
Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch is a shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on basement level 2 of ICT Valley Building B in Giheung, Yongin, on the same floor as the CGV cinema. With an elementary-school son who can't handle spice, the family chose the clear mushroom kalguksu and added dumplings, fried rice and minari (water dropwort) shrimp jeon, while the husband was most impressed by the stand-up handheld fan on every table. Kalguksu, dumplings and fried rice for two came to 20,000 won, making Deungchon a good-value family outing.

How to get from ICT Valley parking to Deungchon
You can just use the ICT Valley parking lot at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch — 2 hours free on weekdays, free all weekend, so no parking stress at all. If you plug it into your navigation, it even tells you which ICT Valley parking lot to enter through, haha (Naver Map). We parked at B동 3층 22.

Once you're in the underground parking lot, park near the area marked CGV and you'll get there faster!! Haha. Go in through here!

Just walk straight through the CGV ticket booth area, haha, and exit on the opposite side.

As soon as you step out, you'll see the Deungchon Kalguksu banner right there.

The storefront and the 15:00–17:00 break time
The floor-to-ceiling glass front of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu. ♡ I wanted to rush in and warm up with the hot broth right away, lol.

The hours are posted right when you walk in! There's a break time, so check before you go^^ Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch is open daily from 11am to 9pm, with a break time from 3pm to 5pm.

What is Deungchon like at 8pm on a Sunday?
A wide, open interior with plenty of tables, run cleanly and neatly^^ We got there almost at 8pm on a Sunday and it was already bustling with people. Seemed like a mix of people coming from the movies or from the screen golf place right next door.

Kiosk ordering and what comes to the table
Ordering is simple, done by kiosk of course. The menu shows detailed photos, and honestly the prices surprised me... they're really reasonable. In this day and age! 🥺

The side dish is simple — just one plate of geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), which was sweet and crunchy and tasty☺️

Tasting the clear mushroom kalguksu
At Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch, the mushroom kalguksu comes in three broth options: spicy, clear, or perilla. Since our son can't handle spicy food, we went with the clear mushroom kalguksu! The broth was absolutely loaded with minari (water celery) and mushrooms, served with kalguksu noodles and two dumplings.

Fried rice comes with it too. Instead of mixing the rice into the broth porridge-style, they take it away and bring it back as separate, fluffy fried rice.

Minari shrimp jeon (water dropwort and shrimp pancake)
We also ordered the minari shrimp jeon (pan-fried pancake), and it was really nutty and delicious. Even my son, who doesn't like vegetables, ate this one well☺️

A stand-up handheld fan on every table
At Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch, there's a stand-up handheld fan on every table. My husband saw this and said he'd never seen a restaurant do this before... he was totally touched. He runs hot, and eating this kind of simmering food usually makes him even more overheated and fidgety, so seeing a handheld fan at every table blew him away. He kept going on and on about it. 😍🧡 It's little touches like this that add up to make a restaurant feel special🥰

Dessert to finish: an adorably nostalgic-looking yogurt drink🧡 I used to drink so much of that yogurt back in the day, so seeing it again after so long made me happy🩷
