Today I'm introducing Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Okjeong Branch, which I found while looking for a good pork belly restaurant in Yangju haha. It's known for great pork belly, so I went in with high expectations — and came away even more satisfied than I expected 🥹
Above all, the staff grilled the meat for us themselves, so we could eat really comfortably, and the meat quality was great too — a place I'd love to visit again 👍👍

Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Okjeong Branch is located in Okjeong's central commercial district, so it was easy to find haha. We used the building's basement parking lot.
The parking space was generous too, so we could visit without any parking stress, and it was nice being able to move around comfortably even on rainy or hot days haha.

📍 Open daily 11:30–23:30. Since it operates every day, it's easy to visit without worry, whether on weekdays or weekends. Being able to stop by anytime you're craving pork belly was also a big plus 😊
What the exterior and dining room feel like with a baby
The clean exterior stood out even from a distance, so it was easy to spot. You could feel why it's a popular choice for family meals or work dinners 👍
The interior was spacious and clean. The tables were spaced generously so it didn't feel cramped, and it was a comfortable space for groups too. The staff greeted us kindly, which made the whole meal feel good haha. We went with our baby and they were so sweet to her, which I really appreciated 🥹
You could see the meat being refrigerator-aged right in the store, which gave me even more confidence in its freshness and quality 😊

They sell various cuts of meat, but we ordered pork belly (samgyeopsal) and steamed egg (gyeran-jjim). Pork belly done the classic way really is the best, I think 🥰

The side dishes were plentiful and delicious, great to eat alongside the meat. Each one came out neatly arranged, which added even more to how satisfying the meal felt!🥰
The moment the pork belly we ordered arrived, the meat looked really good. The bright red color built up my anticipation before I'd even taken a bite haha.
And what I liked best was that the staff grilled the meat for us themselves! No need to worry about grilling or flipping timing — we could just chat and eat comfortably, which was really great 👍👍💕💕
Taking a bite of the golden-brown grilled pork belly, it was juicy and the savory flavor filled my whole mouth haha.
The more I chewed, the more the clean, mild flavor of the meat came through, and I could see why it's such a popular pork belly spot in Okjeong.

The steamed egg we ordered alongside was really savory and delicious too 💕 It had a fluffy, soft texture, and eating it together with the pork belly was the best combination.
The steamed egg cut through what could otherwise feel a bit greasy, so we could keep eating happily until the end.
The meat quality was satisfying, and having the staff grill it for us made for such a comfortable meal — a Yangju pork belly restaurant I'd like to visit again 👍😋
