In short
Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is a Korean set-meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant in Yeoju, Gyeonggi, about 7–8 minutes by car from Yeoju IC and Yeoju Premium Outlets. I was in Yeoju recently to run some errands and was looking for lunch nearby when I ended up at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap, known for its Yeoju rice. Since I'd come all the way to Yeoju, I figured I might as well try the famous rice dishes instead of just grabbing anything — and it turned out the food was cleaner and the spread more generous than I expected, haha, so I left pretty satisfied.

Where is Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap, and how far is it from Yeoju Outlets?
Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is close to Yeoju IC and also easy to reach from sightseeing spots like Yeoju Premium Outlets, the birthplace of Empress Myeongseong, and the Yeoju Insect Museum. It's only about a 7–8 minute drive from the outlets, so it seems like a solid option for anyone shopping there and looking for a meal.
What I liked most, though, was the parking! There are spaces right in front of the restaurant, and a large separate lot behind it, so parking was never a worry.

Ordering braised cutlassfish for two with Yeoju rice stone-pot rice
Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap has several set-meal options. I hadn't had it in a while, so I ordered the braised cutlassfish (galchi jorim) for two. I felt like I'd been eating way too much meat lately, haha, so this time I picked fish instead.
I was also quietly looking forward to the rice, since it's stone-pot rice made directly with Yeoju rice 👀. Hearing that they use domestic ingredients — rice, kimchi, pork, and so on — made me trust the place a bit more too.

What is the restaurant like inside? Room seating and wide table spacing
The restaurant was bigger and more comfortable than I expected. There's hall seating as well as room-style spaces, which looked great for family meals. The tables were spaced well apart too, so it was easy to chat quietly while eating — I really liked that. I think this kind of hanjeongsik-style restaurant would especially suit anyone visiting Yeoju with their parents.

Side dishes: tangpyeongchae, japchae and fried eggplant
Not long after ordering, the banchan started arriving one by one, true to hanjeongsik style. There was tangpyeongchae (mung-bean jelly salad), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and several other side dishes — way more varieties than I expected. But it was the fried eggplant that surprised me most; I kept reaching for it, haha. Each banchan was mild rather than intense, with a clean overall flavor, which I liked.

🐟 How did the braised cutlassfish taste?
And finally, the main dish — braised cutlassfish! It arrived still bubbling, and just looking at it made me want rice. The fish flesh was quite meaty and the sauce spicy and salty but not too intense, pairing perfectly with rice.
Best of all, there was almost no fishy taste. The sauce had soaked into the fish so well that putting a piece on rice with a bit of sauce was truly dangerous for my appetite 🥹. I'm the type who eats a lot of rice when a fish stew's sauce is good, and this day was no exception — the rice just kept disappearing, haha.

🍚 Yeoju rice stone-pot rice and the nurungji finish
And then the stone-pot rice I'd personally been looking forward to! I was curious how rice grown directly in Yeoju would taste, and it was indeed chewy with a nutty flavor. Eaten with the braised cutlassfish, it felt like something you could finish a whole bowl of even without any side dishes, haha.
After finishing the rice, I poured water into the stone pot and had the nurungji (scorched rice) too. Ending with the savory nurungji left me full and warm inside. I really think a hanjeongsik meal isn't complete without finishing with nurungji, haha.

If any of these describe you, Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap should be a good fit. The large parking lot in particular made it easy to visit by car. Warm stone-pot rice, spicy braised cutlassfish, and a whole spread of neat side dishes made for a solid meal in the middle of a trip. I had the cutlassfish this time, but next time I'd like to try one of the other set menus, haha.
