As the weather cooled down a bit, I started craving a Han River picnic. This time, instead of just bringing a mat, I rented a full picnic set and properly enjoyed a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park.

To cut to the chase, it was way more convenient and pretty than I expected, and even the setup process was fun, so overall I was really satisfied. I'd especially recommend trying it once the autumn breeze starts blowing. Sitting by the Han River on a day that's neither too hot nor too cold, feeling the wind — it really felt like proper rest.

What comes in a Picnic List Mangwon rental set
The set I rented from Picnic List Mangwon included a checkered mat, low table, reclining chair, lights, and other props that you can just spread out and use right away by the river.

Why the backrest chair matters for a long picnic
Personally, the most important thing here was the reclining chair!
When you spend hours on a Han River picnic, sitting on a mat the whole time is surprisingly rough on your back. But with a backrest, you can lean back and sit comfortably, which was genuinely great. It's comfortable while eating too, and nice for just sitting and gazing at the river — it was basically an essential item for me.

How easy is renting and setting up the picnic gear?
If you had to prepare a picnic set piece by piece yourself, there's actually a lot to pack, but since everything you need is ready in one go, it was really convenient. You just pick up the gear, head to the river, find a spot, and set it up — even first-timers shouldn't find it difficult.

Mangwon Han River Park picnic mood and photo spots
The biggest advantage of a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park was definitely the atmosphere. Compared to just laying down a mat, setting up the table, chairs, and props made it feel like a mini campsite — the vibe really came alive.

The yellow checkered mat became a nice accent in photos too, and the wood table and chairs combo matched naturally, so even casual shots turned out pretty.

Don't skip the bubble-blowing camera
And the most fun item on this picnic was the camera that blows bubbles!

You really need to bring this one. It's cute just holding it, but when you press the button, bubbles keep coming out and it totally changes the mood of your photos and videos.
Especially as the sun starts to set, the bubbles catching the light looked really pretty. If you're visiting with a partner or friends, definitely take photos and videos with the bubble camera. It's a great item for getting that perfect shot — I'd personally recommend it highly.
Is renting a picnic set at the Han River worth it?
At first we also wondered if we really needed to rent a whole picnic set, but once we actually used it, we were pretty satisfied. No need to buy, store, and carry a mat, table, and reclining chair yourself — you can just rent when needed, so there's no burden.
Just bringing food, spreading it out on the table, chatting, taking photos, and leaning back in the reclining chair to rest — time flew by without me noticing.

Especially in a season like now when the autumn breeze is starting to blow, I'd really recommend planning a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park. Take photos and hang out during the day, and turn on the lights around sunset for a whole different mood.
For anyone who wants easy prep but a proper Han River picnic vibe, plus pretty photos to keep — I recommend this.
Tips for an autumn Han River picnic date in Mangwon
- Choose a set that includes a reclining chair — comfort for your back makes all the difference if you're sitting for a while
- Bring a bubble camera if you can — it transforms your sunset photos and videos
- Just pack food and you're set — photos during the day, lights at sunset
Definitely choose a set that includes a reclining chair, and try to bring a bubble camera if you can! On a cool autumn day, grab some tasty food to go and head out to enjoy a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park :)
Personally, I felt that if you're planning to sit by the Han River for a long time, the reclining chair really matters. Leaning back comfortably while enjoying the breeze made the picnic so much more satisfying. If you're planning a picnic at Mangwon Han River Park with friends or a partner on a breezy autumn day, definitely give it a try. All you need to prepare is the food you want to eat, so there's little burden, and you can even walk away with pretty photos — I'd recommend it as an autumn date course too. I'd love to rent again on another nice day and enjoy a relaxed Han River picnic :)
