Exterior of Bomseol Main Branch, a Korean set meal restaurant in Osan

Lately I've been craving Korean food over Western food, so I visited Bomseol Main Branch (봄설 본점), a hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) restaurant in Osan. It's certified by a Korean cuisine master, so it felt like a safe pick going in. I ordered the 18,000-won Bomseol table — full review below 😉

  • 🚩 Set meal restaurant with a varied menu
  • 🚩 Has its own banquet hall — for group bookings / first birthday parties
  • 🚩 Large lot with parking for 100+ cars

Seating by floor at Bomseol Main Branch — 1st-floor tables, 3rd-floor private rooms

The 1st floor has rows of tables like this, great for a regular meal! The 2nd floor apparently has a spacious area set up for group reservations or first birthday parties 👍🏻 And the 3rd floor has private rooms, so smaller bookings are possible too, hehe.

Ordering was done at a kiosk, which was convenient, and the meal menu comes in several price tiers~~~

Free barley rice mixing station

The great thing is that the barley rice mixing station is free! You can take as much as you want. Getting a little taste of bibimbap (mixed rice) before the real meal starts is always the best part 😆 — I dished myself some right away ✌🏻

A bowl of barley bibimbap with vegetables

Nicely, sesame oil, gochujang (red chili paste), and doenjang (soybean paste) are all set up at this mixing station too. I loaded mine up with fresh vegetable salad, bean sprouts, bracken fern, and lots of lettuce and mixed it all together — completely delicious 🤤

The 18,000-won Bomseol table for one

📌 Bomseol table, ₩18,000 per person — braised pollock / stir-fried pork + lettuce wraps / salad / squid fritters / japchae / godulbbaegi / fresh vegetable salad / yeolmu kimchi / pickled chili peppers / stir-fried zucchini / braised lotus root / stir-fried bellflower root / hot-pot rice / cheonggukjang

The 18,000-won Bomseol table set for one

A staff member set everything out for us one by one, and besides the main dishes — braised pollock and pork stir-fry — there were so many side dishes I was genuinely touched 🥹 And on top of that, hot-pot rice AND cheonggukjang too?! ㅠㅠ At that point, 18,000 won felt like a bargain!

When I scooped rice out of the hot pot, the portion was generous, and I poured hot water in afterward to make rice crust (nurungji) — hehe. The cheonggukjang was kept simmering on a burner, so it stayed warm the whole meal!

Tasting it in person made me even more satisfied with Bomseol Main Branch, a great Korean restaurant in Osan 🫶🏻 Now let me go through the Bomseol table's side dishes one by one ~~~ ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Close-up of Bomseol table side dishes
Sweet-and-spicy braised pollock

Braised pollock

The braised pollock, the main dish, looked delicious just from the sauce. The sweet-and-spicy seasoning soaked well into the pollock, making it perfect to eat with rice! Once I picked the meat apart with my spoon, the chunks were big and filling 👍🏻

Stir-fried pork served with lettuce wraps

Stir-fried pork

Stir-fried pork is always delicious no matter when you eat it. The seasoning wasn't too strong, tasting like the kind of pork stir-fry your mom would make 😆 The meat was tender and had no gaminess at all — my favorite side dish of the day!

Crispy fried squid fritters

Squid fritters

Next up, squid fritters — a side dish I've never seen at a hanjeongsik restaurant before. It's genuinely a standout, crispy outside and tender inside 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The squid wasn't chewy at all, so soft I think I'll be craving it again!

Japchae served as a side dish on the Bomseol table

Japchae

The japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) wasn't too salty, just the right seasoning, perfect to pair with the other side dishes! It's the kind of dish that's a hassle to make at home, so I was so happy to see it included on the Bomseol table, hehe.

A plate of palate-cleansing salad

Salad and the rest of the side dishes

There's also a salad in between to keep your palate fresh! The portions were so generous that by the end of the meal my stomach was round as a ball 😂

Assorted side dishes including pickled chili peppers

The rest of the side dishes were all neatly plated too, and I especially loved the pickled chili peppers! Every dish that day was seasoned just right, exactly to my taste ❤️ I think even picky elders would love this place with no complaints.

Rice crust made by pouring hot water into the hot-pot rice

Can't skip the rice crust

I couldn't pass up the hot-pot rice crust either — cleaned my bowl right up 😉 It was so savory and delicious that I even stole my friend's rice crust ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I promised myself I'd diet but... ㅠㅠ rice crust from a hot pot is simply unbeatable 👉🏻👈🏻

Coffee and sujeonggwa corner at the restaurant entrance

Sujeonggwa after the meal and myeongjang dried yellow corvina

On the way out, there's also coffee / sujeonggwa (cinnamon persimmon punch) / puffed corn set up at the entrance! I had a light cup of sujeonggwa, and its subtle sweetness with a hint of cinnamon was the perfect way to cleanse the palate after the meal ✨️

Myeongjang dried yellow corvina gift set for sale

For reference, they also sell myeongjang dried yellow corvina (boriguolbi), which seems like a perfect Chuseok gift. I'd recommend trying the dried yellow corvina set meal at this Korean restaurant in Osan, and if it suits your taste, picking one up as a gift too 🫶🏻
