Main photo from a visit to Plan A Restaurant in Songdo, Pohang

Hi, this is Jjukkumssi :) Over the last holiday, before heading off on a trip, I went to Songdo in Pohang with my family.

That day I was looking for somewhere with great food and an open sea view to dine by, and I found a Western food restaurant with a truly amazing ocean view.

A relaxed, delicious meal while taking in the blue sea of Songdo, Pohang, all in one glance! The vibe and the food were both satisfying, so let me introduce it.

The moment I stepped into Plan A, what I liked most was

Thanks to the wide-open scenery, the whole space felt more relaxed and full of atmosphere.

Is Plan A Restaurant good with kids and a big family?

Plan A had a baby chair and a blanket ready, so it looked great for visiting with kids. In fact, I saw a lot of big family groups there. The thoughtfully prepared amenities made the meal even more comfortable.

The four dishes a family of four ordered at Plan A

The four of us ordered cheongyang pepper aglio olio (₩15,000), whole shrimp pilaf (₩16,000), shrimp rosé spaghetti (₩16,000), and the Plan A beef chop steak 240g (₩35,000), and it turned out to be an excellent combination in both portion size and taste.

Because of the floor-to-ceiling windows, our food photos came out great too, haha. The natural light was nice and the sea in the background made taking pictures even more fun.

With a gentle garlic aroma and a punch of heat from the cheongyang peppers, it tasted better than I expected. That bit of spiciness also cut through the richness, so I ate my way through this Western dish, which can otherwise get heavy, without getting tired of it, haha.

The whole shrimp pilaf lived up to its name, with plump whole shrimp in it. There was a generous amount of shrimp, so every bite had that springy texture, and it went really well with the pilaf.

There was more plump whole shrimp than I expected, which made it a pretty satisfying dish (recommended).

The shrimp rosé spaghetti was delicious, with springy shrimp added to a soft, savory rosé sauce. The sauce wasn't too rich and had a gentle thickness that coated the noodles well. Big chunks of shrimp turned up here and there too, so the texture was great.

The sauce especially stood out — it seemed to have blended-in shrimp, because every bite carried a subtle, deep shrimp flavor. The smooth, creamy rosé sauce combined with the shrimp's umami made the whole thing taste even richer! I really recommend ordering this one.

The beef chop steak came with a nicely grilled steak plus crispy fries and a fresh salad, so it was a hearty plate. Alternating between the meat and fries, then reaching for the salad now and then, kept the combination interesting without getting tiring.

Onions and bell peppers were grilled alongside the meat, which added even more flavor. The well-grilled chop steak was juicy and tender, and the crunch of the onions and peppers made it even better.

The fries were salty and crispy, kind of like Mom's Touch style, so they went perfectly with the chop steak. And the sauce on the salad that came with it was really good! It was fresh and savory at the same time, the kind of flavor that kept me reaching back for more.

Would I go back to Plan A Restaurant?

Overall, this is a Western food restaurant I was happy with — the food was delicious and the menu lineup was solid. On top of that, the atmosphere was great thanks to the Songdo sea view through the floor-to-ceiling windows 🤍

This is my honest self-funded review based on what I actually tasted, so if you're looking for a place in Songdo with a good vibe or a great meal, I think it's worth a visit :) If I'm ever back in the area, this is somewhere I'd like to go again!
