Garak Market fish shop sashimi combo with E09 parking: Yeongjae Susan

As soon as fall rolls around, seasonal foods start popping into my head one by one, and gizzard shad sashimi is always at the top of the list *_* I've gone to Garak Market's fish market a few times before just to pick up sashimi, but this time I headed to Yeongjae Susan (영재수산), a Garak Market fish market favorite, specifically to try the fall gizzard shad.

Garak Market has tons of seafood shops, but we always trust our go-to spot Yeongjae Susan, so we picked up a jeon-gwang-cham-hoe combo with gizzard shad in it. Let me walk through eating it comfortably at home, the sashimi prices, and the parking info!

Where is Yeongjae Susan? Left inside Garakmall Seafood Gate 6

Yeongjae Susan is on the first floor of the Garakmall sales building, unit C-10. Take Exit 2 at Garak Market Station, enter through Garakmall's Seafood Gate 6, and head left to find it.

The first time I went to Garak Market I wandered around a bit lost, but if you check the unit number C-10 ahead of time it's easier to find than you'd think.

Garak Market parking: South Gate 1 lot, pillar E09 on basement 3

If you're driving, head into the Garakmall South Gate 1 parking lot. I'd recommend parking near pillar E09 on basement level 3 — take the escalator up to the first floor and it's easy to find from there!

Best of all, buying from Yeongjae Susan gets you a 3-hour free parking voucher. Sometimes you just grab sashimi and head straight out, but once you're at the market you end up browsing this and that, and time flies before you know it haha. So having that extra parking time felt pretty convenient for a Garak Market sashimi run.

At Yeongjae Susan, gizzard shad sashimi was ₩21,000 and the jeon-gwang-cham-hoe combo was ₩40,000. Here are the prices posted on the menu board when I visited.

Yeongjae Susan stocks a variety of live-fish sashimi and seafood depending on the season, and since I visited right in the middle of fall, gizzard shad caught my eye. Seasonal gizzard shad sashimi starts at ₩21,000, and the jeon-gwang-cham-hoe, which lets you eat gizzard shad alongside other sashimi, starts at ₩40,000.

Jeon-gwang-cham-hoe is made up of gizzard shad + large flounder + large red seabream, so it seemed like a solid choice for anyone who'd find just gizzard shad a bit too little. There were also various seasonal assorted-sashimi options, including flounder-and-salmon combos with gizzard shad worked in! We like eating a little of many different kinds of sashimi, so this time we went with the jeon-gwang-cham-hoe.

Ordering the 40,000 won three-fish sashimi combo to go

We picked up the ₩40,000 jeon-gwang-cham-hoe from Yeongjae Susan to eat at home. In the past when we'd come to Garak Market for sashimi, comparing menus on the spot ended up taking longer than expected, but this time deciding the order before we arrived made everything much easier.

Being able to eat flounder and red seabream along with gizzard shad, rather than ordering gizzard shad alone, was exactly right for us since we like several kinds of sashimi!

It was great being able to try gizzard shad, flounder and red seabream one by one — each fish had a different texture and flavor, which made eating it more fun. Having the seasonal gizzard shad in the mix really made it feel like proper fall sashimi haha. Gizzard shad is one of those things you have to eat at least once when fall comes around, and picking it up from a Garak Market fish market favorite to enjoy comfortably at home felt really good this time!
