Goyang garden café: six-clove garlic bread and melon ade, Baedagol

On a day with unusually lovely autumn sunshine, I visited Baedagol Bakery House, a Goyang café with a gorgeous outdoor garden.

First impressions of Baedagol Bakery House: chrysanthemum pots at the entrance

Baedagol Bakery House is a two-story bakery café with a garden on Hoguk-ro 1121beon-gil in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. The first thing I noticed walking up was all the chrysanthemum pots lining the entrance to the café building.

Yellow, magenta and pink chrysanthemums bloomed thickly on both sides of the stone path, so what started as a coffee run turned into an unexpected flower-viewing moment — great mood boost.

Baedagol Bakery House feels a little different from those sleek, modern mega-cafés. I actually preferred the cozy, comfortable atmosphere of this pretty two-story house with its garden and yard. 🌼🐸

The whole-melon fridge and the fresh melon ade series

Opening the pretty front door and stepping inside, the first thing that caught my eye was a fridge displaying whole melons.

It's their seasonal fresh melon 'warreu' (roughly 'tumbling down') series. Great name for it! From melon bingsu (shaved ice) to smoothies, ade and lattes, the vivid green melon visuals really grabbed my attention. There was no walking past this for Daisy Froggy, a fan of melona ice cream, haha! 🌼🐸🍈

For drinks, I ordered the fresh melon warreu ade along with a hot Americano. And since it's literally called a bakery house, checking out the bread was a must!

Browsing the display case slowly, there was a wide range — from sweet cakes to hearty meal breads you could eat as a full meal.

Three breads instead of lunch: salt bread, ink crumble, six-clove garlic bread

Since I'd missed lunch, I picked breads that would fill me up properly. 🌼🐸

What I chose:

Salt bread ₩3,000, ink crumble bread ₩6,000, six-clove garlic bread ₩6,000

Can't wait to dig in~ Pretty generous portions!

Splitting open the six-clove garlic bread revealed a generous amount of garlic cream cheese inside! Cream cheese was layered between the folds of bread, so even one piece felt fairly substantial.

The ink crumble bread had a streusel-like topping on the black bread that made it sweet and gave it a nice chew!

Indoor window seats or the outdoor garden: where to sit

Indoor seating is spacious, with a variety of setups: group tables, 4-seaters, 2-seaters.

I started out sitting indoors, but the garden visible through the window kept catching my eye. Eventually I picked up my drink and moved outside.

With a cool breeze and warm autumn sunlight, I was so glad I stepped outside!

Walking through the garden, earthenware jars and birdhouses hung from trees quietly caught my attention.

Chrysanthemums signaling the start of autumn were in full bloom, filling the garden with flowers everywhere.

Big hydrangeas, tables set beneath the trees, and white parasols all came together so well that I briefly forgot I was near the city center.

Is Baedagol Bakery House good with kids? Sand play area and house rules

One side of the garden has a sand play area for kids. With outdoor tables right next to it, it seems like a great setup for kids to play while parents chat nearby.

It's run as a kids care zone, outside food isn't allowed, pets can't come indoors, and the entire facility is non-smoking, according to the signage.

Open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with last order at 8:30 PM.

I preferred the garden to the indoor space, so I spent my time seated outside.

Sitting under the tree shade, chrysanthemums and hydrangeas visible between the white parasols, afternoon sunlight slanting in — it was a good, unhurried moment in a garden where autumn had clearly arrived.

Bread and coffee time flowed naturally into flower-viewing and a garden walk... I guess in autumn, you end up seeking out garden cafés with outdoor space. 🌼🐸🌿

Where the name Baedagol comes from

Baedagol began in Haengsin-dong, Goyang, starting with rose cultivation in 1970, then moved into exporting koi carp domestically and internationally from 1999, leading to the Baedagol Theme Park in 2008. The original theme park operations ended due to the Changneung urban development project, but this Baedagol Bakery House is one of the spaces continuing that story today.

Is there enough parking at Baedagol Bakery House?

Parking is very ample. There's a lot right in front of the café, plus a second lot across the street.

Not a place to just grab bread and coffee and rush off, but somewhere good for viewing flowers, walking the garden, and sitting slowly under the trees.
