Yongin noodle restaurant for chogye cold soba sets: Myeonsikdang Suji
In short
Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch is a Japanese noodle restaurant about 55 meters from Exit 2 of Sujigucheong Station in Yongin, Gyeonggi. On a hot day the writer had lunch here, ordering the pork loin tonkatsu with mini cold soba set and the chogye naengsoba (cold chicken soba) with mini fillet katsu set, alternating crispy cutlet with chilled noodles and finding the chogye naengsoba generously topped with chicken. With solo bar seats and baby chairs, Myeonsikdang Suji is an easy stop whether you eat alone or bring a child.

While looking for a place to eat lunch near Sujigucheong Station, I finally visited Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch, a spot I'd wanted to try for a while. I really love noodles, and tonkatsu is my soul food, so the moment I saw the menu there were a lot of things I wanted to order. It's still a bit warm during the day, so instead of hot ramen I was craving something cold. So I ordered cold soba and chogye naengsoba (cold chicken soba), both good pairings with tonkatsu.
Where is Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch, and what are its hours?

Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch is located at 1F, Unit 101, 51-9 Suji-ro 296beon-gil, Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, about 55m from Exit 2 of Sujigucheong Station. It's open daily from 10:30 to 21:00, last order at 20:30, and there may be a break time if ingredients run out.
Coming out of Exit 2 of Sujigucheong Station and heading into the alley with Medical Pharmacy and Deojingook, you can easily find it on the first floor of the building with the Ediya Coffee.
A 55-meter walk from Sujigucheong Station Exit 2
Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch is really close to Exit 2 of Sujigucheong Station, so it's a convenient spot to reach by public transit. Maybe because there's an academy district nearby, the atmosphere felt easy for students or office workers dropping in to eat alone too.
If you're driving, you can use the public parking lots around the restaurant. We parked at the lifelong learning center's attached parking lot and walked over.
Solo bar seats and baby chairs inside Myeonsikdang Suji
Walking inside, there were more seats than I expected.

Overall the atmosphere was clean and uncluttered, and there was also bar-style seating set up for solo dining.
So it seemed like a good place to visit whether alone or with friends, a partner, or family.
They also had a baby chair available. I always check whether a place has a baby chair when eating out with my kid, so this was a nice plus.
Ordering by tablet: what's on the Myeonsikdang menu?

You can order easily using the tablet at each table.

The menu was more varied than I expected, so I spent a while deciding. From ramen to mazesoba, cold soba, katsu, rice bowls, and pho, there was a wide range from noodles to full meals. If you're looking for good ramen near Sujigucheong Station, there are plenty of options too — tonkotsu ramen, shrimp tonkotsu ramen, spicy tonkotsu ramen, shoyu ramen — so there's a good range to choose from.
What we ordered at Myeonsikdang Suji

We ordered two sets: the pork loin tonkatsu + mini cold soba set, and the chogye naengsoba + mini fillet katsu set. Since it combines tonkatsu and noodles, it made for a pretty filling meal!
How crispy is the pork loin tonkatsu?
First, we tried the tonkatsu.

The breading was fried up nice and crispy, so the texture was great from the very first bite.

The tonkatsu was savory and light, and it came with several sauces so you could dip it however you liked.

Wasabi and salt came out too, so I tried putting a little wasabi on the tonkatsu and also dipping it in salt.

Of course dipping it in the basic tonkatsu sauce was delicious too! Rather than sticking to one flavor, switching between the sauce, wasabi, and salt let me change up the taste according to my mood, which I liked.
The mini cold soba: chilled and chewy

The mini cold soba that came with the pork loin tonkatsu set. The broth was cool and the noodles chewy, and it was a great combo with the crispy tonkatsu.

I mixed a little wasabi into the cold soba too, and the sharp kick really woke up my appetite! Even though it was mini-sized, the portion was just right to pair with the tonkatsu without feeling like too much.

Alternating a bite of tonkatsu with a bite of cold soba kept things light instead of greasy.
Chogye naengsoba (cold chicken soba), a summer specialty

This was my first time trying chogye naengsoba, and it was really delicious, more than I expected.

The tangy, cool broth went well with the chewy noodles, and best of all, there was a very generous amount of chicken in it.
There was so much chicken that it didn't feel like just a bowl of noodles — it was genuinely filling.

The noodles were chewy too, so the texture was great, and eating it cold made it the perfect lunch for a hot day.
What's at the self-serve corner
There was a self-serve corner set up on one side of the restaurant.

There were pickled radish, kimchi, and udon broth, plus hoisin sauce, sriracha, and cilantro seed powder. If you like cilantro, you can use the cilantro seed powder to your taste. I can't eat cilantro, so I just looked at it, haha.

Is there a wait at lunchtime?
We visited a bit early, so we could eat fairly comfortably, but by the time we left, it was getting close to lunch hour and customers started coming in one after another. Delivery orders seemed to keep coming in too. If there's a wait, they said you can fill out the waiting board in front of the restaurant or ask a staff member.
The photo review event at Myeonsikdang Suji
They were currently running review events on both Naver and Instagram.
If you verify your receipt on Naver, write a photo review, and show it to staff, you get a free canned drink.
There's a separate Instagram event too — you can participate by uploading a post. They also said there's a weekly Monday drawing on Mondays for a free solo set meal voucher, so if you're planning to visit, it might be worth joining.
Worth a stop near Sujigucheong Station?

Eating at Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch this time, I found the menu varied enough that there was something to pick according to your taste. The set combining tonkatsu and soba was really nice too. Above all, it's easily accessible from Exit 2 of Sujigucheong Station, and with seating good for solo dining as well as a baby chair, it worked well whether eating alone or visiting with a kid. Seeing the restaurant fill up and delivery orders keep coming in as lunchtime approached, it seems like a place a lot of people around here come to eat.

Next time, I'd like to try the tonkotsu ramen I didn't get to this time, as well as the new menu items sanuki fish cake udon and spicy kimchi udon. If you're near Sujigucheong Station looking for a restaurant where you can pick from ramen, soba, tonkatsu, rice bowls, and more, Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch is worth a visit. :)
