Why Baut, a brunch café near Dongdaegu Station

Baut is a brunch café in Sincheon-dong near Dongdaegu Station, known for its excellent brunch. My office is nearby too, so when I had time with friends I study Japanese with, we picked a brunch café to catch up over food and conversation.

I'd passed by this area countless times, but once I actually visited, I realized they run the café across the entire three-story building 👍

Parking at Baut: a lot just for customers

There's a dedicated Baut parking lot right in the alley next to the building entrance, so those driving in can visit without worry!

Inside Baut: interior and atmosphere

Baut's interior blends a bright white tone with a modern feel, giving off that classic brunch café vibe right away.

I obviously think the taste of the food is the first priority at a café or restaurant, but before eating I also care a lot about looking around at the atmosphere, interior, and little decor pieces — and Baut's tall, vertical-feeling interior balanced so well with the overall mood that it immediately felt like a stylish café!

The round glass wall at the entrance and the full glass wall on the side of the building were especially striking!!

Baut's 2nd and 3rd floors: can groups sit together?

Before the food came out, I went to check out the 2nd and 3rd floors. The 2nd floor has quite a few 2–4 person tables, which looked great for a date or catching up with friends over brunch. There was one interesting spot on the 2nd floor — a long, corridor-like stretch with a very long bench, so I snapped a photo out of curiosity.

The 3rd floor has tables for 2–4 as well as a group table that easily fits 8 people. With just two extra chairs squeezed in, it looked like it could seat 10 comfortably! Overall the café gets great natural light throughout, which made it feel like a relaxed spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch!

When our order was set out on the table, I actually gasped a little... the visuals were top tier 👏👏👍👍

Plate of Baut's ciabatta sandwich

Ciabatta sandwich, ₩11,000

This ciabatta sandwich was genuinely delicious! I don't eat bread that often, but ciabatta is one of those breads I can eat guilt-free, and I love it — the romaine, cheese, tomato, and ham inside got more savory with every bite alongside the ciabatta. It paired especially well with coffee, which made it even better.

Season salad, ₩12,000: fig and ricotta cheese

This season salad was gorgeous just to look at!! When you scoop up the figs, arugula and other veggies with the ricotta cheese in one forkful, the crisp texture, tangy dressing, and mild, creamy cheese came together so well — way better than I expected!! Highly recommend 👍

Daepa jambon sandwich, ₩12,500

This daepa jambon (green onion and ham) sandwich was surprisingly delicious! Visually I expected a smoky flavor from the green onion, but on the first bite it was tangy, with the crisp texture of the green onion pairing well with the baguette exterior, and the arugula scent at the end left a real impression!

Signature Baut coffee, ₩5,500

The signature Baut coffee!! I forgot to ask for a single shot and ended up drinking it with the full double shot, but thanks to the rich, sweet cream on top it wasn't bitter at all, so it paired really nicely with brunch!

A good stop before your train or bus at Dongdaegu Station

I use trains and buses at Dongdaegu Station often too, and whenever I'm hungry I tend to grab something from a common chain or fast food place. But now that I know about Baut, I'm 1000% sure I'll walk a little further next time for something fresh, healthy, and delicious instead!

Next time I'll probably come back with coworkers and focus on the menu items we haven't tried yet. Takeout is available too, so I'd strongly recommend this brunch café to anyone catching a bus or train from Dongdaegu Station!
