Dongdaegu brunch café for hummus and jambon sandwiches: Baut

In short

Baut is a brunch café in Dong-gu, Daegu, near Dongdaegu Station. After Saturday morning work, I visited with my husband for veggie hummus, a green onion jambon sandwich, Baut Coffee, and apple & peach tea; the mild hummus was the standout. Verdict: Baut is a lovely choice for a date or gathering, especially with its own parking.

After finishing Saturday morning work, I stopped by a great brunch spot with my husband and enjoyed some cozy time together.

Baut near Dongdaegu Station: location and parking

Baut (바우트) is in Sincheon-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu. It is close to Shinsegae Daegu and Daegu Marriott Hotel, so it is nicely located for a light meal before or after shopping, or after hotel check-in or check-out.

The blue door and semi-transparent textured glass worked together beautifully, making for a memorable entrance.

For Baut, use the private parking lot beside the building. Then head inside Baut after parking.

The order counter is on the left as you enter, with dining tables on the right. Baut has three floors in total, so I took a leisurely look around starting from the first floor.

Different seating and interiors on every floor at Baut

The first floor has tables for two and four, and its large windows made it a wonderful spot for natural light.

Half-length mirror and bar-style seating

There was also a half-length mirror area that looked like a photo spot, plus bar-style seating that seemed ideal for solo visitors.

Baut, second floor

Like the first floor, the second floor had tables for two to four people. With plenty of yellow used throughout, it felt brighter than the first floor.

Baut, third floor

Large table on Baut's third floor

The third floor had a large table seating up to eight, along with brightly colored tables for two. Rather than using matching tables throughout, each floor had a different setup, which made looking at the interiors fun too.

Different props were displayed on each floor, doing a great job as objects and photo spots.

What we ordered and how long the food took

At Baut, you can order hummus, which is not easy to find elsewhere, as well as soup, sandwiches, and salads. Beyond coffee, there is also a varied drink lineup including tea and ade.

Everything we ordered was served at once. Look at those colors... Starting with the veggie hummus, which I enjoyed most ❤️

The veggie hummus I enjoyed most

Veggie hummus brunch dish

❤️ Veggie hummus ❤️ made from blended chickpeas. It came topped with asparagus, red onion, quinoa, and tomato, with two pieces of yeasted bread on the side.

It was delicious with vegetables piled onto the yeasted bread, and just as good dipping the bread into the hummus. The mild hummus was so, so good that I have a feeling I would come here often if I lived nearby 🤩

A substantial green onion jambon sandwich and coffee

The green onion jambon sandwich had green onion dressing, arugula, sultana onions, and jambon ham inside a crisp baguette. It was more substantial than I expected, so even with just a coffee alongside it, I was full.

Green onion jambon sandwich

I have been completely into jambon lately and eat jambon sandwiches often; this was easily among the best ones I have had recently.

Baut Coffee and brunch

Baut does not only do brunch well—the drinks were excellent too. Baut Coffee had a rich latte base topped with a thin layer of cream for a sweet finish, perfect for replenishing my sugar after being drained by morning work 👍

Private parking alone is a major advantage near Dongdaegu Station, where parking is extremely difficult. With its varied brunch lineup and delicious drinks, I think it would also be great for a Dongdaegu Station date or gathering.
