Spicy tteokbokki set takeout at Yeouido IFC Mall: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a Korean snack restaurant in the underground passage that runs from Yeouido Station Exit 3 to IFC Mall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Craving spicy tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), the writer ordered the Hyeonseoni Set (23,000 won) for takeout, which comes with tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae (blood sausage) and mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls). The spicy sauce at Hyeonseonine is flavourful rather than harshly hot, making it a good stop after shopping at IFC Mall or The Hyundai Seoul.

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch: tteokbokki in Yeouido, Seoul
Yeouido is surprisingly hard for finding a good snack restaurant or tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) place, but Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch sits right along the underground passage from Yeouido Station to IFC Mall. I was craving spicy tteokbokki so badly that I quickly packed some to go..

Inside Hyeonseonine and its self-serve bar
You'd think of a snack restaurant as a cramped space, but this Premium branch of Hyeonseonine has a pleasant interior. The décor was clean too, so I could eat comfortably.

There's a self-serve bar, so you can conveniently grab pickled radish, salt, soy sauce and the like!!

Menu lineup and choosing your spice level
From single items great for eating alone to various set menus perfect for sharing, the lineup was generous. Hyeonseonine's biggest charm is definitely its adjustable spice level!
You can choose according to your taste between the fierce, tingling spicy tteokbokki and the sweet, mild non-spicy version. People who can't handle spicy food, or those coming with kids, can enjoy it without worry.
We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered the Hyeonseoni Set. It comes with tteokbokki + fried snacks + sundae (blood sausage) + mini gimbap (seaweed rice roll). It's the perfect combo, bringing together the four kings of Korean snack food, so I picked it without hesitation.
There's also instant tteokbokki you can boil bubbling hot right at your table, or you can take it to go like I did.

The packaging was clean and the shopping bag was so lovely!!

The 23,000-won Hyeonseoni Set: how spicy is the tteokbokki?
What I brought home was the generously packed Hyeonseoni Set (₩23,000).

The moment I opened the container, the red sauce color really stirred up my appetite.. spicy tteokbokki. The chewy rice cakes were soaked through with sauce. The first bite made me go "oh, this is good!" but the more you chew, the more the spiciness builds — it's addictive. It's not an artificial, over-the-top capsaicin-style heat, but a deliciously spicy sauce, so even while sweating a little I kept reaching for more.
Genuinely deliciously spicy~!!

Mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) and fried snacks
Dipping the mini gimbap into the spicy tteokbokki sauce is so good~~~

The fried snacks — gimmari (fried seaweed rolls), squid, sweet potato, vegetables — fried to a crisp were the textbook definition of crunchy outside, tender inside. All the oil was drained off so there was no greasy aftertaste at all, and dipping them into the spicy tteokbokki broth was pure heaven.

Sundae (blood sausage)
I'm a sundae lover, so I really love it, and Hyeonseonine's sundae was genuinely delicious — no gamey smell, just chewy and soft.
Stress totally melted away with this spicy tteokbokki — with the generous Hyeonseoni Set I properly enjoyed spicy tteokbokki, sundae, fried snacks and gimbap all together~~ That's it for this record of a spicy tteokbokki spot near The Hyundai Seoul~~
