I had a phase where I was obsessed with Spanish food and hunted it down constantly, haha. When I traveled Europe, Spain turned out to have a really developed food culture, so everything I ate there was genuinely delicious, haha. These days I'm so glad Korea has more restaurants doing actual Spanish food instead of just Mexican, haha.
Today I visited a pretty Spanish restaurant close to Yangjaecheon stream — Comedor16.

Comedor16: what this Spanish restaurant near Yangjae Citizen's Forest Station feels like
Comedor16 is a Spanish restaurant tucked in an alley on Dongsan-ro 19-gil in Seocho-gu, close to Yangjaecheon stream. The interior is modern, minimal, and clean — a great atmosphere for a date.

What comes with a lunch order at Comedor16: pickles and pre-meal bread
Ordering from Comedor16's lunch menu gets you bread served alongside your meal. Pickles come out first as the basic side.

The pickles served as a basic side.

Bread is also included with the lunch menu. Pretty great, right? Haha.

Bread studded with olives, with a focaccia-like texture. It was baked well, crisp outside and chewy inside — really good. The balsamic olive oil's flavor was excellent too. The bread alone was so good it built up my expectations for the main dish.

Shrimp avocado salad: guacamole meets Brazilian vinagrete
At Comedor16 I ordered one cold tapas and one warm plate. First to arrive was the shrimp avocado salad.

A vinagrete salad is served over grilled bacon and shrimp — vinagrete being a tangy Brazilian-style salad. It's clean and refreshing, a Brazilian salad that suited my taste well.

On top of that goes soft guacamole made with avocado. Plus a generous amount of finely grated cheese! Getting to meet both Mexico and Brazil on one plate felt lucky for someone like me who loves South American food, haha.
You can enjoy it canapé-style too, which helps with fullness.
I love guacamole so much I order it whenever I see it on a menu... this dish had an exotic flavor but would suit Korean palates quite well. The spices weren't overpowering, and the avocado's character came through strongly, making it soft and nutty to enjoy.

The vinagrete salad is tangy and clean — I love it so much. Crunch crunch. >.<
The harmony between the salad and shrimp was also great. Best way to eat it: pile guacamole, shrimp, bacon, and vinagrete all onto a cracker to make your own canapé! Haha. A harmonious, refreshing, and delicious salad.

How Comedor16 serves its 2-week-aged steak
Comedor16's 2-week-aged skirt steak is served medium rare, plated on a warm plate so you can enjoy it hot all the way through — I loved that. It comes with three sauces: romesco, truffle oil, and whole grain mustard.

Such nice, convenient tableware, haha. Made cutting the steak really easy.

Romesco sauce, a thick, nutty Catalan sauce made from ground peppers, nuts, and olive oil. I love it so much, haha. This version was on the milder side — nothing that would feel unfamiliar to a Korean palate.

They cut the steak into bite-sized pieces for you with an easy-to-use knife.
Dipped in the romesco sauce, it tastes soft and mild. Dipped in the truffle oil, it gets wrapped in truffle aroma.

The whole grain mustard sauce paired well too, with a chewy, nutty flavor I really liked.
Who should visit Comedor16, and on what kind of day?
The interior was modern, minimal, and clean — great for a date — and even though the menu is exotic, the cooking was adjusted to suit Korean palates so everything was easy and delicious to enjoy. This Spanish-Brazilian meal, haha! A solid option when you want to experience something different.
