In short

Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in the Deulanguil food street of Suseong, Daegu, serving wood-fired grilled mackerel and spicy stir-fried pork. On a Friday evening, three adults and one baby ordered the wood-fired grilled mackerel for two at 38,000 won and stir-fried pork for one at 20,000 won, and a parking attendant waved the car into the lot on the building's ground floor. Parking is covered for up to 90 minutes at Geumdeungeo, which left plenty of time for the meal and dessert.

Whenever I'm eating out with family in Daegu, it's not just about the menu — the vibe of the place and parking matter a surprising amount too. If I'm bringing my parents along, I look for somewhere clean and tidy rather than super casual. This time I went to Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch (금등어 들안길 본점) in Deulanguil, Suseong, Daegu.

Visiting Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch in Suseong, Daegu

It's a place centered on wood-fired grilled mackerel and stir-fried pork, serving up a neat Korean spread — worked well for three adults and a baby.

Where is Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch in Daegu?

Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch sits in the Deulanguil food street, and it's fairly close to Suseong Lake too. If you're already looking for somewhere to eat around Deulanguil or Suseong Lake, it's worth having on your list.

Friday-night parking at Geumdeungeo: how it worked

We visited on a Friday evening. Deulanguil has so many restaurants that I worried parking might be tough at dinnertime. But there's a parking lot on the ground floor of the building, with a staff member guiding cars in, so it was easy. If the lot fills up, there are public parking lots nearby too.

Parking support covers up to 90 minutes, and after that it's ₩1,000 per 10 minutes. We weren't rushing — we ate at a relaxed pace and even had dessert before leaving — and 90 minutes was still plenty. If you're just eating and heading out, you'll have even less to worry about time-wise.

My first impression walking in was that the place felt pretty tidy and put-together...

Besides the regular 4-person tables, there were also room-style seats for more private dining. It felt like a good fit for family meals, gatherings with parents, or larger groups. High chairs were also available, which was handy since we had a baby with us.

When eating out with a kid, the food matters, but so do things like chair setups and table spacing — and on that front, we could eat really comfortably here.

With three adults and a baby, we ordered wood-fired grilled mackerel for two at ₩38,000, and stir-fried pork for one at ₩20,000. Side dishes like cockle salad and drinks can be ordered through the tablet at the table.

With three adults ordering that much of the main dishes, the portions weren't lacking at all — we left feeling nicely full.

The banchan bar and refills at Geumdeungeo

When the table was first set, there was already a good variety of side dishes, and anything running low could be topped up at the self-serve bar.

Personally I love restaurants with a self-serve bar like this — you can just grab a little more of whatever side dish you like. And overall the banchan (side dishes) had a clean flavor that suited a Korean table well rather than being too strong or salty. Taking a bite of mackerel with a different side each time, I kept reaching for more rice. We ended up adding an extra bowl.

How the meal felt: filling but easy on the stomach

You know that feeling... You're clearly full, but it's not the heavy, greasy kind of full — it's the satisfied feeling of a clean meal that filled you up properly. We had mackerel with rice, tried several side dishes, and had the stir-fried pork too, so we were definitely full by the end. But instead of feeling bloated or uncomfortable afterward, it just felt like a comfortable, well-rounded meal. This kind of Korean menu seems like it would suit a meal with parents really well.

The dessert corner after dinner

We didn't just walk out after eating — there was a dessert corner set up in one part of the restaurant.

There was gangjeong (Korean rice puffs), coffee, apricot tea, and ice cups too — so if you want iced coffee, you can just fill an ice cup with coffee and enjoy it cold.

Is Geumdeungeo Deulanguil worth a family dinner?

Rather than going to Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch just for the wood-fired grilled mackerel, I'd say it's worth visiting for the combination of easy parking, clean Korean food, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

If you're near Suseong Lake looking for somewhere to eat, or hunting for a Korean restaurant in Deulanguil, Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is worth a look.

Went for grilled fish, left having had an extra bowl of rice. All things considered, this meal was a pretty solid success :)
