What four people ordered at Geumdeungeo Deulanguil
There were four of us, and we ordered three servings of wood-fired mackerel plus one extra whole mackerel, one spicy pork stir-fry, and added a cockle salad, haha.

Not long after we sat down, ten hearty side dishes and a warm chard soybean paste soup filled up the whole table, haha.

The ten standard banchan (side dishes)
- Seokbakji (diced radish kimchi)
- Green onion kimchi
- Stir-fried anchovies
- Seasoned seaweed salad
- Seasoned bellflower root with gochujang
- Lotus root salad
- European-style salad
- Seasoned fish roe (jeotgal)
- Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles)
- Roasted seaweed
These weren't just sides thrown in to hit a number — each one tasted good enough to be a main dish on its own, so honestly you could finish a whole bowl of rice on the sides alone, haha. This was a Suseong Lake spot I liked from the moment the neat, generous table setting arrived, and it's perfect for anyone looking for a Korean set-meal place near Suseong Lake to bring parents to!

Was the cockle salad worth adding?
The added cockle salad was fully satisfying!! The cockles were generously piled on and cleaned of grit properly, so they were easy to eat. The seasoning had a tangy kick that whetted the appetite, and it was great to pick at in between bites, haha.

Is one spicy pork stir-fry enough for four to share?
This is one serving of Geumdeungeo's spicy pork stir-fry. Even split among the four of us, there was more than enough — so generous!, haha.

Even though the meat was cut into thick slices, it was really tender and had none of that gamey pork smell, which I loved, haha. The seasoning was spicier than I expected, so it paired perfectly with rice!

And the mackerel, the main dish, hadn't even come out yet and the table was already groaning under all the food... ♥ The green onion kimchi was genuinely delicious, and I'm still regretting not buying some to take home...

How Geumdeungeo grills its wood-fired mackerel
Finally, the main dish — grilled mackerel!! Geumdeungeo's grilled mackerel is cured with nuruk salt made from clean New Zealand sea salt, then grilled in a 450-degree wood-fired oven, haha. Thanks to the nuruk salt, it keeps the mackerel's signature flavor while tasting clean and deep. With the grilled mackerel added to the already generous spread, it made for a truly complete Korean set meal near Suseong Lake :)

Should you add one extra whole mackerel?
Before visiting, I looked up reviews, and honestly the mackerel didn't look that big in photos, so I ended up adding one extra whole fish, haha... But once it arrived, I realized the grill plate itself was so large that the fish just looked smaller by comparison. In reality, the mackerel was so big it stuck out past the edge of the underplate.

I was so glad I added the extra one — the grilled mackerel was incredibly moist and delicious, haha. It also kept warming on the grill plate as we ate, so we could enjoy it piping hot right to the end. The chard soybean paste soup was also kept simmering so it never went cold, so we got to enjoy a warm spread from start to finish. It's these thoughtful little touches that made me love this Suseong Lake restaurant!! ♥

How Geumdeungeo works for a family gathering near Suseong Lake
Overall, the food was generous and the menu is easy for everyone — young and old — to enjoy, making it a perfect Suseong Lake family gathering spot, haha. It's especially good for taking parents out for a Korean set meal, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a family dining spot.

Self-serve banchan bar, coffee and apricot juice
If you run low on any side dish while eating, you can help yourself to more from the self-serve bar, haha. Our table was set with such generous sides from the start that we didn't need to use the refill bar, but anyone who eats a lot of banchan can freely go back for more.

There's a coffee machine using Starbucks beans, plus apricot juice for kids. There's also a freezer stocked full of ice cups, so you can make an iced Americano right away — that's a 100-point touch of thoughtfulness... ♥ Eating a hearty meal and then heading out for a walk around Suseong Lake with a cold coffee in hand — that's the perfect course, haha.

Private rooms, group seating and how long you wait
There's separate group seating and private rooms available, making this great not just as a Suseong Lake family gathering spot but also as a venue for other group get-togethers — the restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable, plus parking is convenient. A great Deulanguil restaurant in Suseong-gu for family meals or group gatherings!

You can also buy the side dishes and mackerel to take home and enjoy them there too, haha. I visited right as the break time ended, and by the time I was leaving, even though the restaurant is spacious, there was already a wait forming.
The food was so delicious and the staff so friendly that I feel like I'll definitely be back, haha. If you're looking to enjoy a hearty, satisfying Korean set meal, I highly recommend Geumdeungeo, a Deulanguil restaurant in Suseong-gu!!!
