Why switch from Kkamon Pangyo to Kkamon Jeongja?

I used to go to the Pangyo branch of 'Kkamon,' but with the recent openings of the Jeongja and Sunae branches, it's gotten much more accessible. The Jeongja branch is especially handy since you can grab dinner and go for a walk nearby afterward.

I've been to plenty of pho places, but few Vietnamese restaurants in Bundang nail both value and taste like Kkamon does. While my older son went to see Odyssey with friends, the three of us — me, my husband, and our youngest — went out for a weekend dinner at this Jeongja-dong pho favorite.

Inside Kkamon Jeongja: atmosphere and seating

The space feels like a cozy local eatery. There are several 4-person tables, but the atmosphere makes it totally fine to dine solo too.

Vietnamese food has become our family's go-to for eating out lately. It's not greasy, it's reasonably priced, and everyone can order something different to suit their own taste. Our youngest even says pho tastes better than pasta these days.

All the staff serving us were young Southeast Asian workers, which doesn't feel unfamiliar anymore. Their Korean is excellent and they're quick on their feet — service moved at LTE speed.

Can you order Kkamon pho with the toppings left out for a child?

The restaurant's signature pho: deep, rich broth simmered from beef shank and brisket, piled high with tender beef.

Our kid doesn't like toppings, so I asked in advance to leave out the onion, scallions, and everything else — and it came out beautifully simple, just noodles, meat, and broth, which made our youngest very happy haha.

It's a bit funny to see a bowl with everything stripped out, sitting there so bare... but thank you for humoring a fussy little customer's requests.

I usually order the squid pho here, but this time I wanted some meat, so I went with the pork backbone pho.

A big whole piece of pork backbone sits in the bowl, and just looking at it you can tell it's been boiled tender and soft. I'm not usually a fan of gamjatang (pork bone stew), but this pork backbone makes me crave it now and then... makes me want to try raengsaep too.

The meat is so tender that just touching it lightly with chopsticks practically debones it. Beef pairs well too, but the distinctive savoriness of pork backbone especially suits the clean broth.

The noodles are boiled so soft they slide right down. Compared to other places, there seems to be less bean sprout and more noodle.

Fluffy egg fried rice piled with minced pork stir-fried in salty seasoning until it's full of smoky wok flavor.

Topped with a soft fried egg and garlic crunch, this is an addictive fried rice you keep going back for.

My husband ordered this one — I just had a bite, but it's the kind of dish you could eat every day if someone made it for you.

Add just ₩4,000 and you get a set that comes with a plate of water spinach stir-fry. It's literally listed on the menu as the 'office worker set,' making it a great choice for a solo lunch too.

Eating out usually means missing your vegetable side dishes, so this plate of water spinach stir-fry is a nice vitamin boost. Stir-fried salty with oyster sauce, it's tasty and still crunchy.

Vietnamese food has so many great appetizers, which makes me happy. We usually get the spring rolls, but this time we picked the fried chicken wings for our youngest!

They're even better with the sweet and spicy chili sauce, but the wings themselves are well-seasoned enough to enjoy plain. By the way, the bánh mì sandwich here is really good too — if you haven't tried it, you definitely should.

Parking and location at Kkamon Bundang Jeongja

The dine-in tables were busy, but delivery orders were even busier — the Baemin and Coupang Eats notification bells never stopped ringing. Still, I can't give up the fun of eating pho served hot straight from the restaurant.

For this Jeongja-dong pho favorite, 'Kkamon Jeongja,' parking is easy in the Sharp Starpark building's parking lot, and it's within walking distance from Jeongja Station Exit 3. Recommended for solo dining, lunch, family dinners, and dates in Jeongja-dong!
