Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki set too big for two: Hyeonseonine Premium

Today I visited Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, a well-known tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) spot in Yeouido. You can get there straight from Yeouido Station through the underground passage, and it's close to IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul, so it's great for a quick, easy meal! I didn't know it before, but apparently Hyeonseonine also does instant tteokbokki cooked at the table!!!! If you want that in Yeouido, I recommend checking this place out too, haha.

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, and what is it like inside?

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch sits right in the underground passage from Yeouido Station to IFC Mall, so you can get there comfortably no matter the weather. It's a branch of Hyeonseonine, said to be one of the three best tteokbokki places in Seoul, so I figured the taste was guaranteed.

I'd been to a branch in Yongsan before and remember thinking, this is so good! So it was nice having a branch nearby.

The store is right along the path from Yeouido Station to IFC Mall! Good thing you can get there comfortably regardless of rain..! There's also a ton of seats!!

There's a review event going on too, worth checking, and once you're inside you order at the kiosk! Takeout is possible too, apparently. No outside food is allowed.

Menu, kiosk ordering and the self-serve bar at Hyeonseonine Premium

At Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, you order at the in-store kiosk and grab what you need from the self-serve bar. I ordered the Hyeonseoni Set at medium spice.

Here's the menu...!! True to a great Yeouido tteokbokki spot, most customers seemed to be ordering tteokbokki set menus! I got the Hyeonseoni Set. Next time I want to try the instant version too. I went with medium spice.

There's a self-serve bar set up, so grab whatever you need! The store is split into indoor and outdoor seating, and both have tons of seats so you should be able to sit comfortably!! Just know that even if you're sitting outside, you need to come inside first to order at the kiosk...!!

The 23,000-won Hyeonseoni Set: too much food for two

The Hyeonseoni Set is 23,000 won and comes with an array of snacks on one tray — tteokbokki, sundae, mixed fried snacks, gimbap and more. Fish cake broth comes alongside too, so it was nice and hot to eat.

For Yeouido, I think this counts as a good-value meal.. 🙏☺️ The portion was so much that I don't think two people could finish it. In my opinion, it's enough for three women, or one man and one woman, haha.

Mini gimbap that is bigger than the name suggests

I especially loved the mini gimbap (seaweed rice roll) — the filling was generous and it was really tasty! It's good dipped in the broth too, and despite being called 'mini,' it was huge, so I got full fast!! It was also brushed with a lot of sesame oil, which made it nutty and fragrant.

Mixed fried snacks: the vegetable fritters are the pick

The fried snacks in particular were crispy and warm, so they were great. There was a good variety, so it was fun picking through them. I especially recommend the vegetable fritters..!! They were delicious... haha.

How spicy is the medium-spice tteokbokki?

No need to say much about the tteokbokki — it was exactly that spicy, savory taste we all know. I ordered it at medium spice and it was just right; if you're stressed out, the spicy version would probably work too. Truly a great Yeouido tteokbokki spot~!! My friend said the tteokbokki was the best part.

The broth was also generous, so it was great for dipping other food into!! Haha. The rice cakes weren't chewy in a bad way — soft and springy — and the broth wasn't too sweet, just delicious. The portion was way too much for the two of us to finish....😚😚

Is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch worth it? Final verdict

So that's my review of visiting Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall, a great Yeouido tteokbokki spot! If you're looking for a simple, good-value meal after a date at The Hyundai Seoul or IFC Mall, I recommend Hyeonseonine!! And if you want to try their instant tteokbokki in Yeouido, I recommend it too!
