Eojin-dong pho restaurant in Sejong: large beef pho at Mekong Thai

In short

Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch is a Vietnamese-Thai casual restaurant on the third floor of Sejong Machi in Eojin-dong, Sejong. For a late lunch around 2pm before an afternoon of work, the large beef pho and the pineapple fried rice arrived packed with bean sprouts and noodles — the regular size is already generous — and the broth stood out most. Mekong Thai is a pho spot near Sejong Lake Park that stays satisfying visit after visit, with mains in the low 10,000 won range.

Is there a wait at lunch? A 2pm late lunch at Mekong Thai

Today I stopped by Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch around 2pm for a late lunch before an afternoon of work. It's popular enough to have a wait at lunchtime, so I'd recommend an early visit or a Naver Reservation (available from 12:30pm). The interior has quite a lot of tables and, true to an Asian casual restaurant, has a clean, warm feel.

Every table comes with side plates, utensils, and sauces, and you check the menu and order via kiosk. There's also a 🍀review event🍀 running, so it's worth joining for extra perks🤗

What's on the Mekong Thai menu, and how much does it cost?

Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch's menu ranges from pho to fried rice, pad thai, mi goreng, and summer rolls to sides — a pretty wide selection, with prices in the low ₩10,000s. A lineup fitting for a Vietnamese & Thai Asian food casual restaurant.

  • Noodles: brisket pho, beef pho, chadol pho, chicken pho, combo pho, seafood pho, shrimp wonton pho, chive beef pho, tom yum pho, spicy beef pho, Thai garlic pho, bun cha
  • Pad thai & stir-fried noodles: pad thai, spicy seafood pad thai, chicken pad thai, mi goreng

My personal favorite menu items at Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch are the beef pho and shrimp wonton pho, and today I chose beef pho and pineapple fried rice.

They give you a basic tea and side dishes to start. Not water but tea — it's clean-tasting and good.

The dishes I ordered came out before long😃👍 And since I love pickled onions so much, I asked for more and they kindly brought extra🥰

Table setting with hoisin sauce and spicy chili sauce

The portions are big and it looked really appetizing. Hoisin sauce and spicy chili sauce are also set on the table, so you can spoon some onto a small dish and enjoy them to taste😊

How big is the large beef pho at Mekong Thai?

The large size of Mekong Thai's beef pho costs only ₩2,000 more than the regular, so being hungry I decided to go big😆 Even the regular is a generous portion, but the large size was really a lot. Bean sprouts and noodles piled high♡ And the broth — so good right from the first sip♡

Hoisin sauce and pickled onions, which I really love, go perfectly with beef pho and hit exactly my taste. Does everyone eat it this way?!! haha I thought 'how am I going to finish this large size??!!' but I finished it😋

Pineapple fried rice with shrimp

What does the pineapple fried rice taste like?

Mekong Thai's pineapple fried rice is a harmony of pineapple, shrimp, egg, vegetables, and rice. The rice is fluffy and savory, and the pineapple is sweet and tangy😍 This is genuinely delicious~! Some people may not have tried it, but no one who's tried it just once stops there😊

There's also plump, springy-textured shrimp in it, and this pineapple fried rice🍍 pairs really well with the pho too.

Is Mekong Thai in Sejong worth going back to?

Today's meal was a total win again~ finished off with an iced Americano😎 Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch — a place I can visit again and again and always call delicious! Next time I'll have to come back for the shrimp wonton pho🥰
