When I want to have a slow meal and talk with someone in Sejong, there is a place that sometimes comes to mind: Le Garden Bleu.

This time, I went to Le Garden Bleu for lunch with a close acquaintance I had not seen in a while in Sejong. I had already visited a few times, so it did not feel unfamiliar, but its particular atmosphere was still lovely even on my return. The taste of the food matters, of course, but I think memories of a meal can be very different depending on who you are with and the time you share. In that sense, Le Garden Bleu is a comfortable space for talking over a meal.

When you enter, the clean, polished atmosphere is the first thing you notice. It is not an overly formal restaurant, but it is not too casual either, so I think it would suit a meal with friends, a date, a family meal, or dinner on a special occasion.

When is weekday lunch more relaxed?

One thing I especially liked after visiting a few times is that, if you choose your timing well, you can enjoy a fairly relaxed meal. There are many office workers nearby, so the restaurant gets quite busy between noon and 1 pm on weekdays. So, whenever possible, I tend to visit just outside the busiest lunch hour. Once that time has passed, the atmosphere becomes much quieter, which is really nice for eating slowly and talking.

The potato gnocchi and pomodoro pasta combination

This time, we ordered Gangwon handmade potato gnocchi with Chodang corn ragù sauce, classic pomodoro pasta, and a sous-vide chicken Caesar garden salad.

First, the Gangwon handmade potato gnocchi with Chodang corn ragù sauce was a dish whose name alone made me curious about the flavor. Sweet, nutty Chodang corn was added to the soft potato gnocchi, with ragù sauce bringing it all together for a very full-bodied taste.

I really liked the gnocchi's pillowy yet chewy texture, and the corn's subtle sweetness and creamy flavor worked beautifully with it. The ragù sauce kept it from leaning too far into simply soft and rich flavors, adding a savory depth. Above all, the colors and plating were so pretty from the moment it arrived that I enjoyed it with my eyes first.

The classic pomodoro pasta was good precisely because it stayed true to the basics. The tomato sauce had its characteristic bright acidity and gentle sweetness, and the overall flavor was clean without being overpowering.

That is why I liked ordering it alongside the potato gnocchi. The gnocchi was soft, creamy, and rich, while the pomodoro pasta was fresh and simple, making the two lovely to alternate between. If you are visiting with several people, I would recommend ordering different styles of dishes like this and sharing.

The sous-vide chicken Caesar garden salad we ordered alongside them was good too. I feel that adding a salad when eating pasta or gnocchi makes the entire meal much fresher.

Tender sous-vide chicken and fresh vegetables came together with a generous variety of ingredients, so it felt filling like a meal in itself rather than just a side salad. Eating it between bites of pasta and gnocchi refreshed my palate and balanced the dishes nicely.

Why I liked the plating and generous parking

Another strength I have noticed over several visits to Le Garden Bleu is that it clearly cares about the visual appeal of its food too.

Once the food is on the table, the plating and colors are pretty enough to make you naturally want to take a photo. But these are not dishes focused only on looks: each menu item has a good pairing of ingredients and sauces, so it is a place where you can enjoy both looking and eating.

And one thing I personally really like is the parking. You can use the building parking lot, and when I visited, there was an impressive five hours of free parking. At many places, parking time is something you have to keep in mind during a meal, but the generous allowance here meant we did not have to rush our food.

What is especially nice about Le Garden Bleu is that the day does not have to end with just one meal.

A bookstore and shopping after your meal

There is a Kyobo Book Centre nearby, so it is nice to browse books slowly after eating. This time too, after a delicious meal with my acquaintance, we stopped by Kyobo and looked through all kinds of books together. As someone who loves bookstores, being able to naturally go book browsing after a meal is quite a big plus for me.

There are also clothing stores and other places to shop in the same building and nearby, so it is easy to follow your meal with coffee, book browsing, and a little shopping. I also liked that the generous parking time lets you enjoy this kind of plan at an easy pace.

Eating good food with someone lovely, talking slowly, then going to a bookstore together to browse books and shop. It may not sound like a particularly special itinerary, but I think these ordinary moments are often the ones that stay with you the longest. Perhaps because I was with a close acquaintance I had not seen in a while, this meal at Le Garden Bleu felt even more pleasant.

If you are looking for somewhere in Sejong with a nice atmosphere, food that does not compromise on appearance or flavor, and above all, room for relaxed conversation, I would recommend Le Garden Bleu at least once. Especially on a weekday, try to avoid the noon-to-1 pm window when many office workers visit. You can enjoy your meal in a much quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.

A welcome person I had not seen in a while, delicious food, unhurried conversation, and a bookstore we explored together afterward. This time in Sejong became another happy memory that way. So next time I want to eat slowly and talk with someone in Sejong, I think Le Garden Bleu will come to mind again.
