Where is Cheongchuni Oranda in Dongmun Market?

Cheongchuni Oranda is an oranda and gwajul snack shop inside Jeju's Dongmun Market. I stopped by while traveling around Jeju — you can't visit Jeju and skip Dongmun Market, right? Haha. So I went to check out Cheongchuni Oranda inside the market.

Everyone buys souvenirs when they come back from Jeju. But I was looking for a Jeju snack that's easy to share, not the usual chocolate or gwajul.

Cheongchuni Oranda had all kinds of flavors ready, from basic to gamtae to tangerine, so it was fun just browsing.

Cheongchuni Oranda menu and prices

The 4-flavor oranda set at Cheongchuni Oranda is ₩23,000, and the bulk basic-flavor oranda is ₩10,000 for 550g. Yuzu gwajul is ₩5,000 for 5 pieces or ₩10,000 for 12.

Not too expensive, generous portions, and tasty — I couldn't just walk past. Hahaha.

What oranda and gwajul are on display?

The shop was clean overall and the products were laid out clearly, so it was easy to browse slowly.

The packaging was neat too, which made it look like a good Dongmun Market souvenir to pick for family, coworkers, or friends.

Oranda flavors and the free tasting

One nice thing about Cheongchuni Oranda is that you can fully taste the flavors before buying, so you can choose the oranda and gwajul that suit your taste. Haha.

I picked basic oranda, gamtae oranda, and yuzu gwajul. The gwajul is genuinely good every time.

The tangerine oranda I tried as a tasting had a subtle citrus aroma that paired really well with the tangy flavor — that one was delicious too.

The oranda I ordered was packed neatly into a bag. The amount that fit in one go was so satisfying to see. Haha.

I want to try the donut oranda next time. Haha, doesn't it look so pretty? It really looks like a donut. The basic oranda was sweet and nutty, an easy flavor for anyone to enjoy.

You'll find it easily just a short walk into the market! If you're looking for a special Jeju souvenir, this place might be a good pick. Hahaha, it's generous.

How do gamtae and basic oranda taste?

The gamtae oranda had a sweet base with the distinct fragrant, salty sea flavor of gamtae coming through.

Some oranda out there is hard and gets stuck in your teeth, right? Haha. But this one wasn't like that — instead of an uncomfortable, hard bite, it was light and crisp in the mouth, so I kept reaching for one more. So much for the diet...

It went well with coffee or tea, and was also good for sharing among a group. Now I'm curious about the square manong oranda too — manong is Jeju dialect for garlic. Haha.

A bag filled to the brim with oranda

They packed everything I picked into a bag. Haha, and it ended up jam-packed. When I opened the bag, the oranda was piled full all the way to the bottom.

The portion was more generous than I expected, so I felt happy the moment I received it. When there's a lot, you just feel good.
