Yeouido IFC Mall instant tteokbokki with jjolmyeon: Hyeonseonine

Yeouido tteokbokki spot / Yeouido IFC lunch spot, Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch. Today was shopping day at IFC Mall and The Hyundai! I don't know why shopping makes me so hungry. Dinner ended up being my favorite, Hyeonseonine tteokbokki, winner winner!

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, and is there parking?

Hyeonseonine tteokbokki's IFC Mall branch is on basement level 2, right along the street leading to the subway. You can eat inside, or there are tables outside the store too if you'd rather sit out there. Sadly, no parking support ㅜㅜ

The inside of Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is compact but has plenty of tables, and it's kept very neat and clean. It's a good spot for two, and there are tables that seat up to four. For bigger groups, you could probably push tables together.

Ordering at Hyeonseonine: instant tteokbokki for two plus eomuk

Hyeonseonine tteokbokki splits into regular tteokbokki and instant tteokbokki, and you can order à la carte or go for a set. There are also ramyeon and rice-bowl menus, so it looked like a good, affordable meal option for office workers nearby too.

I debated between the regular tteokbokki set and the instant version — I had instant last time too, so I thought about switching to the set today, but I just can't give up instant tteokbokki,, Wanted the eomuk broth too, so I added eomuk on top of the instant tteokbokki for two.

Personal plates, utensils, and pickled radish are all at the self-serve bar.

Hyeonseonine's eomuk broth is seriously good too.

How the instant tteokbokki for two tastes as it simmers

Here comes the generous instant tteokbokki! Rice cakes, eomuk, egg, yakimandu, and noodles all piled into the pot — looks pretty appetizing, right?? Watching it bubble and the sauce soak into everything makes you want to dig in fast!

At first the broth looked a bit thin, but as it boils the flavor deepens and the rice cakes soak up the sauce until they're perfectly chewy. Especially dunking the yakimandu into the tteokbokki broth — that combo is the best,,

You've got to eat the jjolmyeon noodles right away before they go soft haha,,

They really pack in the ingredients. I especially love that there's so much cabbage in there.

Is yakimandu worth adding to the pot?

The yakimandu is the best! Good enough that I wanted to add more. It comes as a base item, but if you love yakimandu, definitely add extra.

Verdict: instant tteokbokki in Yeouido after a shopping run

Overall, it's sweet-and-spicy in that classic snack-restaurant way rather than just punishingly hot, which I liked, and I think it's a spot worth trying at least once if you're a tteokbokki fan. When you're in Yeouido looking for lunch or a simple dinner and craving instant tteokbokki you boil yourself over the regular kind, Hyeonseonine is a solid choice. You get to eat rice cakes, eomuk, egg, yakimandu, and noodles all together, which made it a nice place for two of us to eat slowly while chatting :)
