Gangneung beachfront café for iced hibiscus and mocha pound: Baegya

My boyfriend and I went to Sageunjin Beach, famous for its gorgeous shoreline near Gyeongpodae, and spotted this huge, stylish café right in front of it, so we dropped by on a weekday. The scale was impressive, parking was easy, and the view was perfect — here's my real, honest review!

Where is Baegya Coffee, and what are the hours and parking?

Baegya Coffee is a large Gangneung bakery café occupying the 1st through 3rd floors at 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do. It's open daily from 09:00 to 21:00, and parking is available.

What Baegya Coffee looks like from Haean-ro

It sits right in front of Sageunjin Beach, so you naturally spot the place while strolling along the shore! It's a standalone building using the 1st through 3rd floors, with a spacious parking lot that made parking easy.

We parked on the 2nd floor and took the elevator, which is such a nice touch — having an elevator makes it much easier for families to visit.

There were seats on the 1st floor near the counter too, with solid group seating set up, so I'd love to come back here with my family sometime.

What bread and cake does Baegya Coffee bake?

I figured it'd be quiet on a weekday, but true to its reputation as a huge Gangneung bakery with great bread, a lot of it was already sold out?! Luckily we'd already stuffed ourselves before coming, but there was still so much delicious-looking bread!

There's cake in the fridge case too, perfect for a slice if you're craving something sweet. And honestly, I've rarely seen a large bakery with this little cake left over — it must genuinely be that good, haha.

There's also a mini butter pound gift set for ₩16,000, great for gifting. It's sold individually too — mocha, lemon, matcha, chocolate, plain — so out of curiosity I picked up the mocha flavor.

Ocean-view window seats on the 2nd and 3rd floors

The 2nd and 3rd floors at Baegya Coffee both have floor-to-ceiling windows facing the ocean, letting in great sunlight, and each floor has a completely different vibe, so it was nice to pick a seating style depending on your mood.

Ooh~ we sat at a window seat with a great view of the sea. There were also outdoor seats, but you can see plenty from inside :)

What we ordered: iced hibiscus and peach iced tea, 5,800 won each

Iced hibiscus tea ₩5,800, peach iced tea ₩5,800. My boyfriend and I ordered the iced tea and the hibiscus tea.

The peach iced tea was really refreshing and sweet — perfect for sipping while watching the sea.

And the hibiscus tea~! Isn't the color so pretty? Haha. I love hibiscus tea, so I order it every now and then.

I was curious so I ordered the mocha mini butter pound cake, and I genuinely recommend it as a gift. It was so moist and delicious?! The kind of flavor that makes you want just one more bite. If we'd visited on the last day of our trip, I wouldn't have hesitated to buy the gift set!

Sageunjin Beach seen from the 4th-floor rooftop

This is the rooftop on the 4th floor. The view is pure art 👍 The weather was great that day, barely any wind, so my bangs survived, and I could see the famous breakwater at Sageunjin Beach in one glance.

So we took our time and snapped tons of photos everywhere! Since the beach is right there, we stepped out for a bit to take pictures too, and the water was genuinely so clear and pretty. Total healing, honestly ㅜㅜ!

Is Baegya Coffee worth it for a Gangneung ocean view?

That was my review of Baegya Coffee, a large Gangneung bakery close to Gyeongpodae too. The store is huge and spacious, the ocean view is perfect, the bread is delicious, and the interior is pretty — if you're looking for an ocean-view café in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, I recommend it :)
