Sinsa Station tteokbokki with fresh mozzarella: Mil Tteok Factory
In short
Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch is an instant tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes cooked at the table) restaurant on the basement floor of a building by Exit 8 of Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Two people ordered the fresh mozzarella spicy fire tteokbokki at 19,500 won, added brisket for 6,000 won and shared butter garlic fries at 6,500 won, and the wheat rice cakes were chewy with a sweet-spicy heat mild enough for weak spice eaters. The butter garlic fries were crisp enough to call the best fries ever, and the hip room makes Mil Tteok Factory a good date spot.

Since I was already near Sinsa Station — this is something you just can't get in Pangyo!!! — I went to Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch, famous for its instant tteokbokki~~!
Where is Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch? Basement floor at Sinsa Station Exit 8

Mil Tteok Factory is on the basement floor of a building near Sinsa Station Exit 8

There's a menu board outside too

Go down the stairs and you're in

Such a hip instant tteokbokki restaurant, haha
Inside Mil Tteok Factory: room and seating

The vibe here is so hip. Not too cramped, with about 8-9 tables. It's an instant tteokbokki place but has such a stylish atmosphere it'd be great for a date too!! Just so hip

There's danmuji (pickled radish) and aprons at the self-serve bar
Mil Tteok Factory menu and the order we put together

Haha here's the full Mil Tteok Factory menu. They even have Toowoomba tteokbokki, which was surprising. I'm super curious how it tastes but!!! I'll save Toowoomba for next time — what we ordered was the fresh mozzarella spicy fire tteokbokki ₩19,500 (brisket add-on ₩6,000), and butter garlic fries ₩6,500. That's what the two of us ordered

This is how it's set up once you order. The owner is so kind too. A Sinsa restaurant that just puts you in a good mood
How does the fresh mozzarella spicy fire tteokbokki taste with brisket added?

I want to eat this chewiness again,, the owner said to boil it for just 1 minute before eating. The basic toppings included are ramen noodles, glass noodles, and quail eggs! Places that give you basic toppings for free are the actual best

They loaded up the brisket generously too, hehe. And tteokbokki always tastes better with perilla leaves in it. Absolutely my style of tteokbokki. No wonder it's a well-known Gangnam tteokbokki spot. The portion was way bigger than expected too

When I actually ate it, the rice cakes were genuinely delicious. The regular ones are chewy, but there's also a type that looks like it's sliced on a diagonal from a long rice cake, you know? I loved that one so much! The texture was chewy in a really special way. Guess it makes sense since they specialize in wheat rice cakes — the quality was so good. Turns out I actually love wheat tteok,,

How spicy is the spicy fire tteokbokki? Fine for weak spice eaters
So this is called spicy fire tteokbokki but it's less spicy than expected. My friend who's a total spice wimp said it wasn't that spicy either!! It leans more toward a sweet-spicy savory flavor than actual heat, so people who can't handle spicy food would probably like it too. Should be totally manageable. With the fresh mozzarella mixed in, eating it with the cheese makes the spiciness even milder. My friend actually thought the mozzarella was a quail egg at first lol. Adding brisket makes it even better. Definitely recommend adding brisket!!
Butter garlic fries, 6,500 won

These are the best butter garlic fries I've ever had!!! Seriously, so good,,

The butter and garlic flavors are deep but not greasy at all, and they're super crispy. Eating them with the tteokbokki doesn't feel heavy either,, I really enjoyed these. If you go to Mil Tteok Factory, you absolutely must order this
Final verdict on Mil Tteok Factory
If you're looking for an instant tteokbokki, Gangnam tteokbokki spot near Sinsa Station or Garosugil, I recommend Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch! The rice cakes are chewy and sweet-spicy delicious, mild enough for spice wimps to eat, and above all the butter garlic fries were life-changing. The vibe is hip too, so it's great for a date. If you're deciding on tteokbokki in Sinsa, everyone give Mil Tteok Factory a try~~ Definitely get the butter garlic fries, hehe. Next time I won't add brisket — I'll definitely get the fried rice instead
