Late dinner gyukatsu before a CGV movie in Gwanggyo: Gyuen-dang

Today I'm introducing a restaurant located in Gwanggyo, Suwon!

I'd booked tickets to see Odyssey in IMAX at Gwanggyo CGV, and while searching for somewhere to eat nearby before the movie, I found this place haha. Even my boyfriend, who was trying gyukatsu for the first time, shouted "this is good...!" after one bite, so as a couple we were both satisfied and I want to recommend it!

Where is Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo, and where do you park?

There's a bus stop right in front, so it's easy to reach by public transit too! Plus when you come up from the underground parking lot there's an escalator right there, so it's convenient to find from the parking garage as well. Park in the B2 zone D24, and once you go up you're right at the escalator. Parking is free for 4 hours!!

Is there a wait for a late dinner after work?

In front of the restaurant there was a simple menu board and a CatchTable machine! As expected for an already-famous Gwanggyo restaurant, there seems to be quite a wait during meal times. We visited late in the evening after work that day, so luckily it was quiet haha.

There were waiting seats prepared inside so you can wait indoors, and plenty of baby chairs too, making it good for visiting with an infant!

There were window seats for solo diners and couples where you can eat comfortably even alone.

Besides that, there were also tables for four, convenient for visiting with family or friends. The atmosphere is great, so like us, if you're going to watch a movie at Gwanggyo CGV or on a date nearby, this is a place I really recommend!!

Gyuen-dang's menu and review event

The menu was served along with water. Gyukatsu and omurice are the mains, but various other menu items like rice bowls, curry, and udon were also available. Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch was also running a review event. They said you get 2 mini okonomiyaki pieces for a review, so of course we had to participate...!!

On the table, there were detailed instructions with photos on how to eat the main menu items — omurice and gyukatsu — so we ate exactly as written there haha. Since there were two of us, we ordered like this.

Sirloin gyukatsu, 19,000 won: grilling it in Isigny butter

After ordering, they lit the brazier that was already set on the table!

The dishes came out in under 10 minutes after ordering!

We debated between sirloin gyukatsu and tenderloin gyukatsu, but since sirloin seemed to be the fattier cut, and we like things moist and tender, we ordered the sirloin gyukatsu!

Can you see the grain of the meat,, honestly it's mouth-watering just from the visual..

They explained that depending on preference, you can put butter on the grill plate, and they gave us Isigny butter,,?? Amazing;; not just any random butter, this place is something~~,,

Like this, once the butter melts, you place the gyukatsu on top and grill it!

After grilling it thoroughly to your liking, you can pair it with the various sauces provided! There was salt, wasabi, and a slightly sweet soy sauce, and while I'm normally a salt person for pork cutlet, the sauce here was so good that soy sauce is my one pick for gyukatsu!! haha

How does the 23,000-won brie cheese omurice taste?

The omurice we ordered along with the gyukatsu came out soon after. I was curious what "brie cheese omurice" meant, and wow, they put a whole !! piece of brie cheese on top. I love brie cheese, so amazing!!

For basic side dishes, they gave us radish salad, soup, and cabbage salad, plus the salt and wasabi to go with the gyukatsu, and each menu item also comes with its matching sauce!

When they brought the omurice, they also briefly explained how to eat it. You cut it open in the middle and pour the sauce over it! Can you see how thick the omurice and brie cheese are 🤤💦

The omurice sauce wasn't too sweet, so it was delicious! So partway through eating I just poured it all on at once lol.

Finished the whole plate,, ^_^ scraped it all clean lol. I'd definitely want to come back next time on my own dime! Next time I'll have to try the hamburg omurice,, drooling.

The restrooms at Avenue France

The restroom isn't inside the restaurant, but you use the building's restroom, which is close to Gyuen-dang!! If it had been a restaurant at the far end it would've been a bit of a walk, but since it's right nearby it was even better haha.

Final verdict on Gyuen-dang as a Gwanggyo date spot

From gyukatsu to omurice, these were all menu items we were trying for the first time on a date, and even my boyfriend, new to gyukatsu, ate it really happily. This time we visited as part of a sponsored campaign, but if I have plans in Gwanggyo again, I'm completely willing to come back and pay with my own money haha. If you have plans in Gwanggyo, I really recommend Gyuen-dang, with its convenient parking and a variety of menu items that everyone can enjoy!
