Chilango Seolleung Main Branch is a Mexican restaurant at 19 Yeoksam-ro 67-gil, 1st floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's easy to reach from Seolleung Station, making it a solid pick as a Daechi-dong Mexican spot for meeting up after work.

It was one of those days when going straight home after work felt like a waste, so my friend and I decided to grab a quick beer. I wanted something a bit different from the usual, so after some searching I ended up at Chilango. I like tacos, but it had been a while since I'd had the build-your-own style, so I was already looking forward to it just from picking the menu haha.

The parking is well set up too. And another great thing about this place — it's dog-friendly!!

What is the terrace and interior like at Chilango?

Chilango has outdoor tables. The atmosphere was so nice that it seemed perfect for a beer on the terrace on a cool, pleasant day like this. The weather was great that day, but I ended up sitting inside haha.

Once inside, the vibe wasn't too formal — more like a comfortable place to eat and chat. The tables weren't cramped either, so it was easy to browse the menu together with my friend. It looked like a lot of guests were pairing tacos with beer, so it felt like a natural spot for an after-work drink. As time went on, more and more people came in, and I could tell Chilango is popular haha. I think the atmosphere plays a big part in that!

Chilango menu: what comes on the taco plate

Since it's a Mexican restaurant, tacos and taco plates made up most of the menu.

There were also special menu items like gambas, hot wings, fries, and nachos. Since the main dish is tacos, the taco plate for two at ₩54,000 requires picking 2 kinds of meat, so we went with the bestsellers: beef and shrimp.

Nachos and tortillas came out first!

When our taco plate arrived, all the ingredients were laid out at once, making the table look pretty abundant. The style is to top a tortilla with beef and shrimp, then mix in vegetables and other ingredients however you like, which made it fun to assemble. The plate also had onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms.

Which sauces come with the Chilango taco plate?

There was a nice variety of sauces too — minced beef sauce (this one's delicious!!), guacamole, cheese sauce, and sour sauce, which was tangy. The nachos that came with it were great dipped in the cheese sauce haha.

Personally, I tried the beef taco first, and maybe because the flavor combination felt familiar, I kept reaching for more haha. I topped the beef with vegetables and sour sauce (there's a slightly spicy sauce on the left — highly recommend that one!).

The shrimp had a springy texture that felt totally different from the beef. Switching between the two ingredients within the same taco plate kept things from getting repetitive, and my friend said the shrimp side was actually tastier. Changing up the sauces and toppings a little each time made every bite feel different, so we ended up eating slowly.

Why Chilango works for tacos near Seolleung Station

I ate the shrimp along with the beef too, and personally I thought the beef was tastier haha. I went that day planning for a light bite after work, but thanks to the taco plate I ended up more full than expected. Being able to alternate between beef and shrimp, and building each bite the way you like, was the fun part of Chilango. Since it's a dog-friendly restaurant, it also seems like a great spot to bring your dog along for a walk and a drink haha.
