Hongdae Korean BBQ terrace with non-alcoholic beer: Gogikkun
In short
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, with a terrace right in front of Gyeongui Line Forest Park. On a weekend afternoon the writer ordered the hanwoo beef and Korean pork set for two (600g, 109,000 won), half-and-half naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) at 7,000 won and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice at 8,000 won, choosing non-alcoholic beer instead of soju because of a dermatology treatment. Even as a chain, Gogikkun Gimchunbae served hanwoo beef skirt and pork neck and galbi of good quality, so the view and the food both held up.

Looking for a Hongdae Korean BBQ spot? Here's a great-vibe restaurant where you can enjoy the Gyeongui Line Forest Park view too — Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch!
I wanted to eat meat outdoors on a nice-weather day, and Gogikkun Gimchunbae — a place I'd passed by before — came to mind right away! The view of the Gyeongui Line Forest Park here is honestly gorgeous… and best of all, even though it's a chain BBQ restaurant, the meat quality is really solid, so I highly recommend it if you don't want to compromise on either taste or view!!!!

Where is Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch and how do you get there?
Hongdae favorite Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is 6 minutes on foot from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 6, and 7 minutes from Sinchon Station Exit 7! There's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to use a nearby lot.
I went on a weekend afternoon to eat BBQ, and there were quite a few people like me there too… daytime BBQ turned out to be pretty great too. Everyone, give it a try~~~

The terrace seats facing Gyeongui Line Forest Park
The biggest strength of Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is definitely the view 🌅 Right in front of Gyeongui Line Forest Park, the outdoor-grilling atmosphere is the best. Sit on the terrace and you get the lush green forest path right in your line of sight!
The other side of Hongdae is packed and buzzing with people, but here you can eat BBQ while looking out at the forest path, so the mood is way more relaxed and pleasant... I'm one of those people who hates crowds.
Especially now that evenings are starting to get that cool breeze, I'd unconditionally recommend the terrace over indoor seats,,, being able to grill meat while looking outside makes this perfect for anyone hunting for a Gyeongui Line Forest Park outdoor BBQ spot! Window seats or outdoor tables on weekend evenings probably need a reservation, so definitely use Naver Reservation!
⭐️ Something to know before visiting Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch — indoor window seats get the meat grilled for you, but outdoor seats do not! ⭐️

Ordering at Gogikkun Gimchunbae: the beef and pork set plus non-alcoholic beer
This is the menu board at Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch. Gogikkun Gimchunbae's strength = they have both beef and pork. I liked that it's a BBQ place where you can pick whatever you're in the mood for. And for people who can't decide (like me), there's a pork + beef combo set too.
I immediately ordered the pork + beef combo and the half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles). And I'd originally planned on daytime drinks, but I'd just come from a dermatology appointment and was at risk of not being able to drink at all? Luckily they had non-alcoholic beer, so I ordered that right away,,

Hanwoo beef and Korean pork set for two (600g / 109,000 won)
The signature menu at Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch — the beef/pork set! Since it was two of us, we ordered the two-person size, and even at a glance the meat color looked fresh and well-aged... The lineup that day was pork neck + galbi (short rib) / beef skirt (hanwoo). The visual alone got me excited... shooting it with the forest path in the background made it look even more radiant.

Side dishes at Gogikkun Gimchunbae, with myeolchi-jeot and wasabi on request
These are the basic side dishes at Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch. Giving myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) also gets a passing grade! Wasabi doesn't come standard, but they'll bring it if you ask — just so you know.

How did the hanwoo beef skirt taste?
The moment the hanwoo beef skirt came out, I gasped at the marbling. The marbling packed tightly between the meat was so good!!! It tasted as good as it looked — grilled just right, it was soft to chew and the savory juices burst out, truly what you'd expect from beef skirt,, with that much marbling, you really get the richness from the fat... This is genuinely a Hongdae BBQ favorite, just come.

Meat and a cold beer on an outdoor terrace with a Gyeongui Line Forest Park view, how a.bout.that. A photo that looks like I have power... just the feeling of

Korean pork neck and galbi: good meat quality for a chain
Once you finish the beef, they grill the pork next — pork neck and galbi! They grill minari (water dropwort) and kimchi alongside it too, so you get a full proper spread.
The pork neck wasn't dry at all — moist and light — and the galbi had just the right amount of fattiness, savory and easy to eat. Honestly, since it's a chain, I didn't expect much from the meat itself,,, but once I tried it, the quality was really impressive. Out of all the BBQ chains I've been to, this ranks among the best in terms of texture! Even the pork neck, a cut that usually doesn't have much fat, was super tender and melted in my mouth,, this place is a pork-neck favorite, a galbi favorite.

Sides: half-and-half naengmyeon and kkakdugi fried rice
Half-and-half naengmyeon (7,000 won)
Spicy naengmyeon or cold-broth naengmyeon? Don't even ask, just order the half-and-half. I really love this thin-noodle Hamheung-style naengmyeon, and Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch pulls it off... so good.
Kkakdugi fried rice (8,000 won)
What's the most delicious fried rice in the world? The fried rice you make after finishing all the meat! Kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) fried rice, soaked in meat fat, savory and tangy, is basically dessert for Koreans. I was too full and left some, but this one was solid overall. Maybe a little more sesame oil, or a bit more dried seaweed flakes on top would've been nice... but everything else was so good that I didn't even care. Ate really well.
Who is this Hongdae Korean BBQ terrace best for?
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch, where you can enjoy outdoor BBQ right in front of Gyeongui Line Forest Park with a lush green view! The Gyeongui Line Forest Park view made the atmosphere great, but the meat quality exceeded expectations too.
