And personally, my favorite part! Customers who eat in the store also get free chips. I'd never seen a service like that before, so it was fun and surprising haha. The ketchup and mayonnaise were especially impressive — they felt like they'd been packaged in-house, and were much thicker and tastier than regular sauces. Maybe it's just me… but anyway, this place is officially a sauce spot lol.
The space is fairly large with plenty of seating, so it was comfortable to eat there. Especially since it's inside a hospital, the food doesn't take long and comes out faster than expected, which is great when you don't have much time.
Hawaiian burger set: pineapple that cuts the richness
What I ordered at Bas Burger Yonsei Cancer Hospital Branch was the Hawaiian burger set (upgraded to cheese bacon fries), a chili mochi cheese bar, and buffalo wings. The one I was most looking forward to was, of course, the Hawaiian burger!
Today we tried the Hawaiian burger set + cheese bacon fries upgrade, chili mochi cheese bar, and buffalo wings~
When I cut the burger in half, steam rose right up. A freshly made, warm burger~ it's been a while, right:) And the bun was exactly my style too. It had a subtle buttery flavor, so the bread itself was savory and delicious.
One bite in, and the juices burst out of the warm burger! The juicy patty paired well with the savory bun, and the pineapple in the middle cut through the richness, so it ended up tasting lighter than expected.
Adding the Bas Burger sauce and pollock roe sauce that came with it brought the flavor to a whole new level. Personally, I'd recommend dipping generously in the sauce!
Buffalo wings, chili mochi cheese bar and cheese bacon fries
I was curious about Bas Burger's chicken menu, so I tried the buffalo wings, and I was really satisfied — the right amount of oil, with a salty, savory chicken flavor.
The chili mochi cheese bar exceeded expectations too. The outside was crispy and the inside was filled with cheese that stretched in a fun way, plus it was topped with a sweet chili sauce that made it delicious even on its own. It also felt somehow bigger than cheese sticks I've had elsewhere?!
I loved how it filled my mouth completely with one bite haha. The fries were thin and crispy, and since I personally love that thin, crispy style of fries, I was satisfied. I drenched them generously in the sauce provided, almost to the point of a full-on coating… and honestly, this was the perfect drinking snack. Not having beer that day was the biggest regret lol. Sharing several menu items instead of just one burger made the meal feel even more filling~
Why Bas Burger suits a quick meal near Sinchon and Yonsei University
Bas Burger Yonsei Cancer Hospital Branch has a spacious store and the food comes out fast, so I thought it was a great place to visit when you want a simple, hearty meal in Sinchon. It's especially convenient for anyone looking for a place to eat near Yonsei University or visiting Sinchon Severance Hospital — I'd definitely recommend it!
If you like handmade burgers, this place is worth a visit. Next time I go, I'd like to try some of the other burger menu items too :)
