Was it five years ago? Six? I was on a shoot near Gangnam and someone ordered Bas Burger for me — I had one bite and fell in love. Back then there were barely any locations, so it was hard to get, but now you can find Bas Burger all over. Today I came to Severance Hospital since it's my grandmother's hospital day, and turns out Bas Burger has opened in the Severance dining arcade too. The construction dust around here used to be brutal, but now there are so many places to eat — I'm thrilled.

Bas Burger menu: what Combo Up and Set Up include

At Bas Burger Yonsei Cancer Hospital Branch, you pick a burger a la carte, then choose Combo Up (drink only) or Set Up (drink + fries). There's also a morning menu available from opening time until 10:30.

I scanned the menu but didn't overthink it — I just wanted the Bas Burger. You choose the burger a la carte, then can go Combo Up (drink only) or Set Up (drink + fries). There are also plenty of sides and toppings to add, so you can customize it exactly how you want.

The Severance dining arcade is always packed, so I visited a bit after lunchtime and luckily there was a seat!! We grabbed a spot in the corner right away and I waited for my sister. Even for a hospital dining arcade, the store is bigger than I expected.

I was worried there'd be no seats, but thankfully there were, even though it was well past lunchtime and there were still quite a few people around. I guess this place doesn't really have off-peak hours. Since it's inside a hospital, some people were eating in their scrubs, and there seemed to be a lot of Yonsei University students too.

There are 2 kiosks up front, and you can also order at the counter inside. Severance staff get a 10% discount! I noticed the kiosks too late, so I ordered directly with a staff member.

We ordered two Bas Burger sets and waited. There's a buzzer pager, so you can wait comfortably at your table.

Free self-serve potato chips for dine-in customers at Bas Burger

If you head to the self-serve corner in the middle of the store, you can grab potato chips like this. Free chips!!! Takeout customers have to pay ₩2,500, but dine-in customers can eat them for free.

Just look at these chips — they look so good. If I'd known, I wouldn't have ordered a set and just gotten a Coke instead! They look amazing! Honestly they looked way better than the fries in the set. I actually liked the chips more than the fries, but my sister happily devoured the fries too, saying they were delicious.

So this is how much I scooped up first. I also grabbed some ketchup and mayo. The self-serve corner has salt, pepper, everything you'd need.

They look delicious and they taste delicious too. My sister and I picked away at them happily! You can technically get as much as you want, but since we'd ordered fries in the set, we only went back once. Crispy, salty, and still a little warm — that made them taste even better. Next time I'll order the combo and eat a ton of these!

The Bas Burger set: holding the raw onion and that chewy bun

The burger arrives! The Bas Burger comes with raw onion, so my sister ordered hers without. You can add or remove all kinds of toppings on the burger. You choose the burger, then order it as a combo or a set — we went with the set.

I used to not really like burgers unless they were the handmade kind, but lately I find myself craving them regularly. A flavor I discovered a bit late in life. The reason I didn't like burgers before was the bland buns, but even non-handmade burgers have gotten better buns these days.

Bas Burger also has the chewy bun I love. And there's this one vegetable tucked inside that's just so good. I've had it delivered before, but eating it fresh in the store like this feels even better.

Mayonnaise, my favorite! I get so happy when a burger place has mayo. I love dipping fries in mayo, and I also love drizzling a bit on the burger itself. My sister and I met up on a whim and had a really satisfying lunch. If you're looking for a good place to eat near Sinchon Severance Hospital, I recommend Bas Burger.
