Walking from Sinchon Station to Yonsei University: a festival on weekends

On the big street heading from Sinchon Station toward Yonsei University, there's a festival every weekend. So if you're bored on a weekend, heading toward the U-Plex area near Sinchon Station can make for a fun evening with all sorts of events going on.

I got there a bit late so the booths had a wind-down vibe. Too lazy to cook dinner at home, so I decided on the burger restaurant in the basement food court of Yonsei Cancer Hospital, right next to the Yonsei University entrance from Sinchon Station...decision made!

It's closer to Sinchon Station than you'd think. Walking straight down the big street from Sinchon Station is fun and not that far distance-wise. It just feels farther because you have to cross the main road.

You can walk straight into the basement 1 food court of Yonsei Cancer Hospital like this. It's basement level from the back of the building, but ground level from the main road. There's also a large Starbucks with surprisingly few customers — a quiet spot to study in the middle of busy Sinchon, roomy and low-key.

Bas Burger menu and prices: what does the basic burger cost?

There's a wide range of burgers...

Looking at the burger lineup first, the most basic Bas Burger is ₩8,200. A basic burger like this is usually a safe, easy option for anyone. There's also a Hawaiian burger that's more of an acquired taste, and a wasabi mayo shrimp burger that's really good — it's not a shrimp patty but actual grilled shrimp, giving it a more upscale flavor. There's also a chicken burger, crunch burger, mozza chicken burger, and a greed burger.

The morning set looks good too — it runs until 10:30 am. And beyond the burgers, one thing you have to try here is the shake shake. The milkshake has a real, rich vanilla flavor. So good.

For the set options, adding just a drink costs an extra ₩2,400. Adding both fries and a drink costs an extra ₩3,900.

The great thing about this place is that the crispy, well-fried fries are free. So I didn't order fries separately, and instead ordered as follows: the basic Bas Burger, a plain milkshake, buffalo chicken wings, and coleslaw.

The interior was spacious, which I liked...cozy lighting, colorful neon signs! The tables are wide, making it comfortable to eat a burger.

Dipping the free fries into a plain milkshake

You just help yourself to as much free fries as you want. Dipping these fries into that milkshake sends you straight to heaven...dopamine explosion. The wings are spicy and so delicious...

One thing about Bas Burger's sauce is that it includes the kind of sauce used in Mexican tacos, so it might not be for everyone. I ate it as is without removing it, but if you don't like Mexican taco sauce, you can ask to have it removed.

Felt like I should eat some vegetables too, so I ordered the coleslaw. It has a healthy, homemade taste.

I went back for another round of fries. Unlike Ashley's sweet fries, these are crispy with a full, original potato flavor and no added sweetness. This is the reason to come to Bas Burger — the fries are free!

What the Bas Burger bun and patty are like

And the burger bun passes with flying colors! So soft. The beef patty is nicely crisp too, and you can tell just by looking that each ingredient inside is good quality.

I kept dipping the fries into the milkshake on repeat like this. This truly is the taste of heaven.

How to customize a Bas Burger

Looking at the burger options, you can ask them to leave out the Bas sauce...I added onion and one extra slice of cheese.

If you're avoiding carbs, you can also swap the bun for lettuce.

Are the buffalo chicken wings worth ordering?

The chicken wings here are amazing! Just the right flavor. Chicken wings can sometimes have a gamey smell, but these are savory, spicy, and just plain delicious.

They just fill up the fries like this. Seriously amazing! It would be great to eat while watching a movie. The kind of taste you wish you could buy in bulk somewhere.
