Six sauces and kimchi noodles at a Yongsan Korean BBQ: Muttuk Sookdae
In short
Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Cheongpa-dong, Yongsan, Seoul, about a five-minute walk from Sookdae Station. On a sudden weekend craving for meat, two of us ordered the Handon (Korean pork) assorted set 600g for 69,800 won, ate it with all six sauces on the table — garlic sauce, wasabi, ssamjang, salt, jeotgal and minari sauce — and added kimchi mari guksu, cold kimchi noodles, for 8,000 won. Staff grill the meat and cut the vegetables for you, and Muttuk Sookdae is corkage free, so bringing your own bottle is easy.

Muttuk, the corkage-free Korean BBQ spot near Sookdae

On a weekend, suddenly !!!! I was craving meat out of nowhere, so I visited Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch (fun fact I learned while writing this post — 'muttuk' is actually a regional word for 'mundeuk,' meaning 'out of the blue'). Gotta oil up the machine before the workweek rolls back around so my brain can function again.

Where is Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch, and where can you park?
The location is only about 5 minutes from Sookdae Station!
There's no dedicated parking support, so use the nearby Cheongpa-dong public office parking lot.
- First 30 minutes: ₩900
- Additional 60 minutes: ₩1,800

What is the seating like at Muttuk Sookdae?
Most of the seats were 4-person tables, and there were group tables too — they pushed the tables together for us! So for gatherings with a lot of people, it might even work well to book the whole place out.

Side dishes and the six sauces on the table
Here are the basic side dishes! Scallion salad, ssam vegetables, perilla leaf pickles, onion pickles, kimchi, and more — all things that go really well with grilled meat!

And they gave us a ton of sauces too. I love it when a Korean BBQ place offers a wide variety of sauces like this — dip this, dip that... you get to try so many different flavors! At Muttuk, they give you a whopping six kinds as standard: garlic sauce, wasabi, ssamjang, salt, jeotgal, and minari sauce, so I was grinning before I even ate any meat

What comes in the 69,800-won Handon assorted pork set 600g
Wow, look at that color on the meat! We ordered the han-don (Korean pork) assorted set 600g (₩69,800) — a combo of super-thick pork neck + chewy pork belly + whole skirt meat, plus doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) included!

Matcha pork ribs and the beef menu
What was really surprising — they sell matcha ribs,,,! I was curious what it would taste like and almost tried it, but,,, I chickened out and went with the safe choice instead. Total scaredy-cat haha. But other people's reviews are so good that I might order it next time I come 🍵🍵 And it's not just pork — they have beef too! You can enjoy udae galbi, flower galbi, and beef short rib meat 🥩🥩

Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is corkage free
And another great thing — this kind of grilled meat restaurant also sells wine, and it's corkage-free,,, !!!👏👏 I don't drink much myself, but for anyone who does, isn't this amazing!?

Staff grill the meat for you at the table
Alright, now finally the meat is sizzling on the grill!!

The server grilled the meat for us directly! Honestly,,, a Korean BBQ place where the staff grills for you is the best kind. They kept checking in about the size and thickness of the cuts, grilling everything really attentively!!😃😃

Look at this,,, doesn't it look amazing!!! Chewy skirt meat, tender pork neck, thick pork belly — the strongest combo lineup on this han-don platter haha. We ate it as a pair and nearly burst 🐷🐷

Vegetables cut tableside and free ssam leaf refills
Onion, mushroom, and even potato are included as standard, and once grilled, the savory flavor goes crazy,,,, The vegetables were also cut into bite-sized pieces by the staff, which made them really easy to eat!

I'm the type who always wraps meat in a ssam, so I piled on a piece of meat, a bit of rice, ssamjang, and minari, and popped it all in one bite — so good haha. The wrap vegetables can be refilled at the self-serve bar, so wrap-vegetable lovers, take note ✨✨

Finishing with 8,000-won kimchi mari guksu and doenjang jjigae
Partway through, I was craving something cold~~ so we ordered the kimchi mari guksu (₩8,000)! With ice cubes floating in it, it stayed refreshingly cold to the last bite, and eating it alongside the meat was so cleansing and nice haha.

This doenjang jjigae comes included as standard with the pork set, and it's packed with ingredients — tofu, onion, chives, and more. Every spoonful scoops up a heap of solid ingredients haha. Of course, doenjang jjigae has to be eaten with rice — that's the golden rule!! So we ordered a bowl of rice and mixed it all together at the end like a boozy rice bowl 🐷🐷
Out of the blue !! Muttuk !! When you suddenly want meat but can't decide between pork and beef !! And you've got a good pairing drink stashed at home !! I recommend visiting Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch for a full round of meat 🤍
