"Modak," famous in Daegu for traditional Texas barbecue — I'd been to the branch near Palgongsan with my family before... While searching for good eats near Dongdaegu Station, I found out there's also a branch right in front of Shinsegae Department Store. A place with proven taste and great accessibility? No reason not to go. ^^

Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch sits right across the street from Shinsegae Department Store, at the entrance of a café alley. If you spend over 50,000 won, they cover the parking fee at a nearby lot, so driving is totally fine! 👌👌👌 It's also just a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Dongdaegu Station on Subway Line 1, so public transit works great too. We parked at the department store and walked over, haha.

The moment you arrive, the barbecue setup grabs your attention right away!~👀👀👀 This is a place in Daegu where you can properly taste authentic American Southern-style barbecue, so the scale is totally different, haha! There are also waiting chairs set up on the side. Especially on weekend evenings, this is a popular spot near Dongdaegu Station, so I definitely recommend making a reservation before visiting.

When the menu and the interior fit together this well, like at Modak Dongdaegu Branch... the food somehow tastes even better!~😃😆😄

You can tell at a glance the set is packed with stuff, right? ^^ Depending on how many people you're with, there are 2–4 person set options with different compositions. And the side dishes that go so well with barbecue can be freely reordered for free via tableside order — even better. And yes, we refilled our tortillas and enjoyed every last bite of meat to the fullest!~lol
How did the brisket, pulled pork and buffalo wings taste?
Our Texas Platter Set for two came with three kinds of barbecue. ➡️ Brisket / Pulled pork / Buffalo wings Beef, pork, and chicken, all three at once, haha. When the staff brought out the food, they recommended trying the beef first. We're an obedient family~ so we sliced into the brisket first and enjoyed every bite 🤣
With a gentle smoky aroma spreading through the air~ the tender brisket just melts away in your mouth. So good. So, so good~~ha. The pulled pork, made from pork neck, has had the fat completely trimmed off, so it's light and clean, with juicy meat that pulls apart along the grain so tenderly. Once you've enjoyed the meat's own natural flavor... I absolutely recommend pairing the pulled pork with the tortillas or dinner rolls that come as sides. ✔️✔️✔️ You'll notice the flavor level up. And finally, our youngest's favorite dish — the cream pasta! She dipped her dinner roll right into the sauce and ate it up happily. ^^
