Yeongdeungpo Times Square Korean restaurant, solo crab bibimbap

I came to shop at the Shinsegae department store in Yeongdeungpo, and after walking around so much I got hungry, so I went looking for somewhere to eat in the basement 1F Food Square at Times Square. Turns out there's a Korean restaurant there where you can eat without anything too spicy or heavy on the stomach, even though it's a food court!! That's Gangmun Times Square Branch. I thought "this is it" and headed straight over for dinner :)

Gangmun Times Square Branch: hours and location

Gangmun Times Square Branch is open every day from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, matching Times Square's opening hours, so you can grab anything from lunch to a late dinner there. They have kids' chairs too, so it's good to visit with children!

It's located in the basement 1F Food Square at Times Square. It's close to the subway too — about 4 minutes on foot from Exit 6 of Yeongdeungpo Station.

How to get to Gangmun Times Square Branch from Yeongdeungpo Station

After shopping at Shinsegae, I headed down to the basement 1F food plaza, over to the Times Square Food Square~ Made it to Food Square! There are so many good restaurants here, haha.

Finally found Gangmun!! The soft lighting makes the Gangmun sign glow, so it's easy to spot, haha. During peak hours there are so many customers that they've set up waiting chairs out front. Unlike restaurants that feel closed-in from the outside, this one has an open layout that's wide open on all sides — the sense of openness is really nice.

Is Gangmun Times Square Branch comfortable for eating alone?

The inside was much bigger than I expected, and the seating was spaced out comfortably. There are kids' chairs, so some guests were dining with children. Even though it was early evening, quite a few people were eating comfortably here since it's a Korean restaurant. There are a lot of tables with generous spacing, so it's easy to come solo too!

Since I was dining solo, I quietly took a table in the corner, haha. You order using the kiosk installed at each table.

The water came out neatly in a bottle, which I liked. The bottle was small and kind of cute, haha.

You can also check the menu on the kiosk. It's full of Korean dishes I love. Ureong doenjang (snail soybean paste stew), country-style cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), boiled pork platter, cockle bibimbap — they all looked delicious... but there was one item that really caught my eye.

The boneless seasoned crab and octopus bibimbap was made with all my favorite ingredients, so I ordered it without hesitation, haha. There were so many appetite-whetting side dishes too! I couldn't just walk past, so I also ordered the mini chive pancake and tuna mayo rice ball.

A bibimbap where the seasoned crab comes already picked off the shell for you... and with octopus and chives on top too, whoa. It was my first time trying this kind of bibimbap, but with that combination, it couldn't possibly be bad~

If you check the menu board, beef radish soup comes included. The beef radish soup arrived along with the chive pancake and rice ball side dishes I'd ordered — everything came out together. I was genuinely starving from shopping that day, so seeing the whole spread laid out made me so happy, T.T

What a beautiful combination. I don't usually like beef radish soup, but this one is genuinely delicious.

It comes included by default so you don't need to order it separately, but if you order a rice dish, be sure to try it. It's refreshing, mildly spicy, and has deep, rich flavor!!

How the boneless seasoned crab and octopus bibimbap tastes

Such a pretty pop of color — I popped the egg yolk and mixed it in with the seasoned crab, delicious!

A bite with octopus on top~ so good, T.T. Usually when you order crab bibimbap you have to work hard to pick the meat out of the seasoned crab shell, right? But here it comes already picked off for you, plus there's octopus with a chewy texture you don't usually get in bibimbap — how could it not be delicious?

Tuna mayo rice ball and mini chive pancake at Gangmun

The tuna mayo rice ball, filled with light tuna and savory mayo, was delicious whether eaten with the side dishes or on its own! The mayo wasn't heavy at all.

The chive pancake wasn't too greasy either, and dipped in the soy sauce, it was just the right little extra treat~~

The gungchae (stem lettuce) side dish was delicious too, and honestly every single main and side dish was so good that I finished it all in no time, haha. I really love Korean restaurants like this, T.T. Especially that seasoned crab bibimbap — amazing!! Next time I go shopping here, I'm definitely coming back. If you want a hearty Korean meal after shopping, or want to eat comfortably with kids, make sure to visit Gangmun in the basement 1F Food Square at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo!
