Yeonnam-dong pasta restaurant, Sunday open-run line: Hôtel de Couture
In short
Hôtel de Couture is a pasta restaurant with pink interiors on the 1.5th floor of a building on Dongyo-ro 46-gil in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul. Arriving right at the 11am Sunday opening, a married couple ordered the pea basil shrimp cream pasta, the mortadella lemon butter pasta and toasted bread, and the basil cream plate with its spicy kick was the clear favourite. Tables at Hôtel de Couture filled within 2 to 3 minutes of opening and a waiting line had formed by the time they left, so an open-run visit is the safest plan.

🏃♂️ My wife loves noodles way more than rice — a total noodle person. So today I went looking for a good-vibes, great-tasting pasta place for her, and found it in a Yeonnam-dong back alley: Hôtel de Couture.
At first the name didn't quite roll off the tongue, so I looked it up — turns out it's a playful spelling mashup of 'Hotel' and 'Good,' with an extra letter tacked on each end to spell out 'Hôtel de Ggoodd' (good hotel)! There's also a second location in Suwon, and it's run by the same team behind another famous Yeonnam-dong spot, Heyjozi, so I had high expectations before even walking in.
Here's my honest report on this eye- and mouth-pleasing Yeonnam-dong pasta spot! ✈️

Sunday 11am opening: already full of overseas visitors
Hôtel de Couture sits on the 1.5th floor of the building, so you climb a short flight of stairs to get there. The exterior already has an exotic, out-of-Korea feel. We arrived right at the Sunday 11am opening — walked in around 11:02 or 11:03 — and to our surprise, most tables were already full! About half the customers were foreign tourists, which made me think, 'wow, this place really has an international reputation.' (For reference, by the time we left there was already a line waiting outside.)
Pink interiors that recall The Grand Budapest Hotel
The whole interior is painted a bright pink, which made me wonder if — true to the name — it was styled after the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. Warm yellow lighting is used generously for a cozy feel, and green plants placed here and there add depth to the color palette. With seating ranging from 2-person tables to larger group tables, it looked perfect for both dates and gatherings.

11 dishes on the QR code menu
Once you sit down at Hôtel de Couture, you check the menu and order via a table QR code on your phone. There are 11 menu items in total. Glancing around, the Honey Bacon Rosé Pasta seemed to be the most popular — nearly every table had one. But we wanted something a bit more unusual, so we ordered the Pea Basil Shrimp Cream Pasta and Mortadella Lemon Butter Pasta, plus a side of toasted bread to go with the sauces.
Because of the rush right after opening, the food took a while to arrive, but luckily both pastas and the bread came out together, which made for great photos.

Why the spicy kick works: pea basil shrimp cream pasta
This was my favorite dish at Hôtel de Couture, hands down! Thick rigatoni is tossed in a rich basil cream sauce, then topped with green peas, arugula, and a generous snowfall of grated cheese — visually it really pops with freshness.

Tasting it, the fragrant basil rises pleasantly through the savory, creamy sauce. The basil doesn't overpower — it blends beautifully with the cream. What really stood out was a spicy kick lingering at the end. That heat perfectly cuts through what could otherwise be a heavy, greasy cream sauce — I couldn't put my fork down.
The rigatoni was cooked perfectly al dente — not hard-cored but springy — and the shrimp hidden in the sauce were much plumper and bigger than they looked in photos, giving a great, satisfying bite.

Warm and cool in one bowl: mortadella lemon butter pasta
Mortadella, a name I wasn't familiar with, is apparently a classic cold-cut sausage from Bologna, Italy, served thinly sliced and uncooked. The pasta sits in a pool of butter sauce, topped generously with three thin slices of mortadella and grilled lemon.

We squeezed the grilled lemon over the pasta for a bright, citrusy hit. The rich, savory butter coats the thin noodles, and the lemon's acidity perfectly cuts what could be a heavy dish. The garlic slices scattered throughout weren't crisp chips but softly cooked, almost potato-like, adding a gentle pungency that further balances the richness.
My noodle-loving wife was thrilled with both pastas. Personally, though, I found the temperature contrast between the warm noodles and cold ham slightly jarring — a bit of an odd combination for my taste. Still, the sauce flavor and noodle texture themselves were excellent.
Is the toasted bread worth adding? Two pastas are enough for two
The pasta sauces were so good we added a side of toasted bread to mop them up.
As pictured, the thick bread comes topped generously with cheese. But it's baked very crisp and dry, so for someone hoping for a soft bread that soaks up the sauce, it felt a bit too hard — a small disappointment. It's probably better suited to people who enjoy a crouton-like crunch rather than dipping.
Honestly, two pasta dishes alone were plenty filling — you don't really need to add the bread. If you're worried about portion size, I'd recommend trying another of Hôtel de Couture's pasta or risotto dishes instead of the bread.

By the time we finished and left, a long line had formed outside. After countless trips through Yeonnam-dong, I only just discovered this pretty pasta spot popular enough that even foreign tourists queue for it — the hunt for good food really never ends.
Final verdict on Hôtel de Couture
Hôtel de Couture was well worth the trek through busy Yeonnam-dong! In a bright, romantic space reminiscent of The Grand Budapest Hotel, we enjoyed varied, high-quality pasta. In particular, the Pea Basil Shrimp Cream Pasta with its standout spicy kick is a dish anyone who likes basil cream would fall for.
I highly recommend this Yeonnam-dong pasta hotspot for a good-vibes date or a photogenic meal with friends.
