Overwatch 2 and kimpitang at a Gireum Station PC café: ZERO100 PC

Today I've got a report from — of all places — a PC café! I didn't eat and sleep there haha, but I did eat well and play well, so here's the writeup.

Anyone here love games back in school? I was never really the girly-girly cutesy type to begin with, so maybe that's why my closest friend growing up basically had my exact same personality, haha.

I spent my school days as a PC café regular rather than a café-dessert lover, and honestly, that was probably the happiest time of my life. What did I play, you ask —

League, Battlegrounds, Overwatch, Sudden Attack... etc.

...okay, I tried to sound impressive there. Bottom line: I've played pretty much everything. But out of all of them, Overwatch took up the biggest share. I was a McCree (sorry, showing my age there) / Ana / Moira specialist. Heh heh.

Where is ZERO100 PC Gireum, the PC café at Gireum Station?

ZERO100 PC Gireum is a PC café right in front of Gireum Station, on the basement level. I came in buzzing with excitement to play Overwatch for the first time in years, and being right by the station made it super easy to find.

ZERO100 PC Gireum is located on B1. Follow the stairs down and the entrance is right there!

There's that distinctive PC café smell (in a good way). I almost teared up a little — it's such a nostalgic smell that it kind of got to me, though it's a bit absurd that the place triggering all this nostalgia is, well, a PC café. Anyway, I had my own little moment, so it counts.

Is a basement PC café smoky? How the air held up at ZERO100 PC Gireum

ZERO100 PC Gireum had all-new equipment, and the space itself was spacious and pleasant. A lot of people avoid PC cafés because of cigarette smell or that musty basement smell, but there was none of that here — it was clean and nice! Thanks to that, I stayed comfortable for about two hours.

I came at an odd hour on a weekday afternoon, and there were still quite a few people around! Gaming really is universal, I guess, haha. Anyway, I picked the most corner-of-the-corner seat and sat down alone. Lonely? Not at all. Here's where the exciting part begins — follow along.

Thankfully Overwatch was still right there on the main screen. I'd played before Overwatch 2 launched, so this was actually my first time with the sequel — but I trusted my past self and just fired it up. Actually, I'd rather not think too hard about that part, and here's why —

What is the food like at ZERO100 PC Gireum?

Because this place is a legit food spot. There was a lineup of high-quality menu items that would put a lot of regular restaurants to shame!! With a "just boot it up, I'll deal with the game later" mindset, I launched Overwatch and started picking my order. Hehe.

Ah, you guys,,

This is me turning into a total piglet. It seriously took forever to decide — there was so much that looked delicious, oh my goodness! The pick from a self-proclaimed (or maybe others-proclaimed?) food connoisseur was —

Ye,,, first up, the modern essential: an iced Americano. Wait, is this a café? An iced Americano at a PC café tasting this good is kind of wild!

Supreme chicken skewers at ZERO100 PC Gireum

Appetizer 1: the (no less than) supreme chicken skewers. You guys, the rich, well-seasoned chicken skewers were fantastic on their own, but apparently that seasoning is meant to taste like a Supreme collab, no less. I haven't tried actual Supreme stuff so I can't really compare, haha, but the conclusion is: it was delicious. Genuinely amazing. I wanted to order another skewer but held off, because —

Boiled eggs and kimpitang (kimchi pizza tangsuyuk)

Appetizer 2: boiled eggs / Main 1: kimpitang (seaweed-and-egg soup with rice cakes). Why six eggs, you ask — there was an unintentional mix-up. With an "actually this works out great" mindset, I ate three and neatly packed the other three into my breakfast lunchbox, which I happened to have on me. The staff probably assume I ate every last one without leaving a scrap. Hopefully,, please,,

I got so caught up in the intensity of the boiled eggs that I put off talking about the kimpitang. I've had it once before in my life — from a plain delivery-only spot, and it was surprisingly tasty. I ordered here with that good memory in mind, and it evolved into an even better memory. This is way too good....? I finished the whole bowl.

Ugh, just looking at this photo makes me so happy. I want to go again — should I just quit my life and move in? (Kidding.) Next time I'm definitely bringing that friend I was inseparable from back in school — she'd definitely love this.

Two rounds of Overwatch 2 after years away: how did it go?

And here's the amazing part — remember I said it'd been years? First round I played Cassidy, second round Ana + Moira. Both rounds I got Play of the Match AND MVP. Haha, my first two rounds back after years off went like this, and I actually considered a career change for a second (not really).

Honestly the characters all felt unfamiliar, so many faces I'd never even seen before, and I thought, "Ah, my brain has forgotten that era..." but even though the brain forgot, my hands just moved on their own;; I even felt like my aim was better than back then.

You guys. Thoughts really aren't to be trusted. Trust the muscle memory carved into your body instead.

That's kind of a life motto, though it feels a little weird phrased through a video game analogy. It's what I tell myself whenever I don't feel like practicing or repeating something in everyday life. Thoughts are fleeting and emotional, so trust the movements your body has gotten used to and the muscle memory quietly built in.

Deep into gaming, I got peckish again and ordered the sweet potato cheese balls...! It was marked as a staff pick, and apparently whoever recommended it really knows their food. These were delicious in their own special way. A perfect ending to my PC café expedition —
