Hi, this is Rangi 🤍 It had been a while since I met up with a friend, so we went to eat meat at Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang! Since it had been so long since either of us had grilled meat ourselves, I was already excited before the food even arrived haha 😆😝

Ordering the 40,000-won half-pig pork set for two

That day we ordered the pork half pig (₩40,000) 🥩 It seemed like a way to taste a variety of cuts all at once, so we didn't even hesitate to pick it!

The meat came out so thick that the look of it already won me over 🤤 Grilled golden brown on the pan, the thick cuts gave a great chew with juices still locked in — so delicious!!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤 I really do think meat tastes better the more you chew when it's got some thickness to it! (Purely my own preference haha.)

Scallion salad tossed with chewy jjolmyeon noodles

The dish that stuck with me most at Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang was the pajeori (scallion salad). It wasn't just the usual shredded scallions — there were jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) mixed in too?! 👀 The distinctive chewy texture of jjolmyeon added a surprisingly great match with the meat 🩵 Pairing the meat with this tangy pajeori made for such a happy meal... ✨✨ I'd never had this style of pajeori before, so it left a real impression! 💕

Kimchi pancake fried to order and tofu-packed doenjang jjigae

It's not easy to fry pancakes at home these days, right? ㅠㅠㅠㅠ 🥲🥲 But here, they fry the kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) fresh, right in front of you 🤩 That was another thing I really loved! Getting to eat warm, freshly fried kimchijeon before even starting on the meat was so satisfying haha. Kimchijeon really is best eaten hot, straight off the pan ㅠㅠ❤️

You can't have BBQ without doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), right haha. This one had quite a lot of tofu in it, which I loved! I'm someone who likes plenty of tofu in my doenjang jjigae, so this was totally my style 🤍 We also grilled bracken fern and bean sprouts on the pan alongside the meat!

Is Hanmaeum good with kids? Playroom and kids' menu

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Osong 2 Sandan Branch has a separate kids' playroom, so it seemed like a great spot to visit with children! With kids able to play in the playroom, I thought it'd be a comfortable dinner-out option for families haha. There's also a kids' menu and high chairs ready, so it looks good for visits with young children too!

Staff dinners and group gatherings: group seating and parking

It's not just great for family meals but also fine for company dinners or group gatherings! There's space for groups and you can make reservations, so booking ahead and visiting seems like it'd be convenient haha. Parking is available and there's a separate smoking area, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're looking for a spot for a work dinner!

The verdict on Hanmaeum in Osong

We filled up on the pork half pig that day — the meat was thick and delicious, but above all, the jjolmyeon-topped pajeori was truly memorable! The kimchijeon was fried fresh in front of us, and the doenjang jjigae was loaded with tofu. We could even grill bracken fern and bean sprouts, so it was a great way to enjoy meat with a variety of sides 🤍 On days when grilling meat at home feels like too much hassle, this is a comfortable place to visit for a hearty meal!

Above all, having a kids' playroom makes it great for family dinners, and having group space makes it good for staff dinners or any kind of gathering too! If you're in Osong and looking for a place to eat meat with family or a restaurant good for group visits, I think Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang is worth checking out haha 🤍
