I've loved Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki since the original location, and now the IFC Mall branch in Yeouido has a Premium version, so I go there fairly often. If you're looking for a tteokbokki restaurant worth visiting in Yeouido, both IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul are good bets.

Indoor or outdoor seats at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch?

The store is split into indoor and outdoor sections. The outdoor area is technically still indoors, but it feels more open with wider spacing between tables, so unless I'm having instant tteokbokki, I prefer sitting outside.

Self-service corner for dishes, pickled radish and wet wipes

Self-service bar and what's on each table

There's a corner where you grab your own dishes, pickled radish and so on. Wet wipes are provided separately too, which is convenient. Water comes from a dispenser and you use paper cups.

Tables come in 2-person and 4-person sizes, and each one has an induction burner so you can order instant tteokbokki.

The pickled radish comes thinly sliced, and a basic fish cake broth is served alongside.

There were people at the outdoor tables today so I only photographed the empty spots. Having an outdoor section made it feel less awkward to eat solo too.

What comes with the 23,000-won Hyeonseoni Set?

The Hyeonseoni Set comes with mini gimbap, sundae, mixed fried snacks and tteokbokki all served together. Most people seem to add Coolpis, but since I'm a cola person, I ordered a cola!

The fried snacks include squid, sweet potato, vegetable, gimmari (seaweed-wrapped noodle rolls) and yaki-mandu (pan-fried dumplings), so there's fun in picking which one to eat.

You can choose the spice level for the tteokbokki, and I went with mild this time. Next time I'd like to try the spicy version haha.

The Hyeonseoni Set I ordered at Hyeonseonine is great for tasting several menu items at once. It's a generous spread that was good to share with family, and since everything arrives together on one tray right after ordering, it's very fast.

Overall the seasoning was well-balanced, so it was easy to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed, and the ingredients tasted fresh and clean. The portion was generous enough that the three of us ate until full and still had leftovers.

The value for money felt really high. If you're torn between several menu items, I'd recommend just going with the Hyeonseoni Set. The taste, portion and composition were all satisfying, so it seems like a good choice no matter who you're with. Since we ate outdoors this time, we didn't get to try the instant tteokbokki — next time I want to order that and add all sorts of extra sides.

Mini gimbap tip when you visit with kids

The mini gimbap comes cut into bite-sized pieces, but if you're with a child, it might be worth asking them to cut it into thirds. The staff looked busy so I didn't ask separately.

Fried snacks dipped into fish cake broth

There's plenty of broth, so it's great for dipping the gimbap, sundae and fried snacks that come with it. I picked the fried snacks first. I nearly splattered myself while eating, so I put the apron on a bit late.

The apron was a disposable item rather than a reusable one, which made things simple.

Sign for the review event and new spicy pepper fried snack menu

They're also running various review events, and it looks like a new spicy pepper fried snack has launched. I didn't notice it when ordering, so I'd like to try that menu item next time!!
