Hantiok's hanok entrance and valet parking

Walking along the main road across from Olympic Park, Hantiok's tiled-roof entrance catches your eye right away.

The traditional hanok style gives the entrance a neat, refined feel right from the start. Walk around behind the building and there's a valet booth right there, which made waiting for the car easy. Parking around Bangi-dong can be tight, so having a valet service takes off the pressure.

There's a sign for the kids' playroom right at the entrance too, so it's a Korean restaurant near Olympic Park that families with kids can visit comfortably.

Hantiok's main hall, private rooms and kids' playroom

Once you walk in and go down a short flight of stairs at Hantiok, you get a hall with high, open ceilings.

The tables have generous spacing, and partitions in between keep things from feeling cramped. Further in, there's a private room too.

Walking past, I noticed markers showing that celebrities like G-Dragon, Jo In-sung, and Jo Bo-ah had visited!

There was a sign that said 'Seat where actor Jo In-sung sat,' which was a fun little thing to check out.

One side of the hall also has a kids' playroom with arcade machines and a claw machine for little ones. I'd made a reservation ahead of time, and it was nice that everything was already set up when I arrived.

Hantiok's menu has a wide range of Korean meal dishes ready, from Andong guksi (noodle soup) to gukbap (rice soup) to bossam (boiled pork) to pork galbi.

The set menu that lets you get grilled meat and soup together looked like a solid deal, so that's what I picked.

What we ordered at Hantiok

  • Emperor Rib Meat Set (₩65,000) — 600g fresh rib meat + brisket soup set

The 'set meal' packed with everything is the signature here, so I also went with the set that let me enjoy meat and soup at the same time!

Side dishes and the self-bar at Hantiok

Basic side dishes including scallion kimchi and pickled perilla leaves

Hantiok's basic side dishes — scallion kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, salad — all tasted handmade, and they really suited my palate. Kind of like home-cooked food??

Grabbing side dishes at Hantiok's self-bar

If you run low on side dishes, you can just grab more from the self-bar without feeling self-conscious — great!

On the way out, I got a cup of yulmu-cha (barley tea) from the vending machine — the one G-Dragon apparently drinks — and it was sweet, a clean finish to the meal.

The fresh rib meat comes out with marbling blooming through the red flesh, served alongside mushrooms.

The charcoal heat is strong, so the moment it hits the grill, the sizzle is basically art.

As soon as it was cooked, I dipped it lightly in salt and popped it in my mouth — that chewy rib texture kicks in and the juices just burst! No gamey smell at all, just savoriness spreading through my whole mouth!!!!🥹💓💓

With a dab of wasabi, wrapped up with the scallion kimchi side dish, it cuts the richness and keeps going in endlessly.

The brisket soup included in the set

Brisket, shiitake mushrooms, and noodles in the soup

The soup that comes with the set fills an entire stone pot. It's said to be based on Andong gukbap, and it's clear but has a heavy, deep richness from the ox bone base. Scoop it with a spoon and you get plenty of soft brisket, shiitake mushrooms, and thin wheat noodles! Sipping it between bites of meat warms you right up and everything just goes down smoothly.

There was no way I wasn't going to mix rice into this, so I added a bowl of rice right away and stirred it in.
