A Sindang-dong spot where you basically have to wait: Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Sindang Direct Branch. Friendly service from the ajummas and solid, no-nonsense side dishes on top of that!
House-made scallion kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, and altari radish kimchi, plus beef gopchang (intestines) packed with fat and chewy makchang (grilled beef stomach lining) — Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is a real Sindang favorite. ❗As of 7pm on a weekend❗ the wait was 30 minutes.
My boyfriend and I really love beef gopchang and somaek (beer-soju mix), so we'd been hunting for a good beef gopchang restaurant near Sindang Station. We heard about a place that's cheap and tasty but always has a line, so we ran right over.
How to get to Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, and is there parking?
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is a 2-minute walk from Exit 7 of Sindang Station. Whatever public transit you take, you'll be close to a bus stop or subway exit, so access is really easy. Unfortunately though, there's no parking 😂

When we arrived, the restaurant was already full, with a line of waiting customers stretching outside. They provide chairs so you can wait comfortably.
How long is the weekend wait at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in Sindang?
As of 7pm on a weekend, there were 5 teams waiting, about a 30-minute wait.

Since we arrived right at dinnertime, no tables opened up for a while — but from 7:30pm onward, seats started clearing steadily.
If you want to avoid the wait, it's best to visit before 7pm or after 8pm.
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang menu and prices
The weather was nice so they had all the folding doors open, giving it an outdoor-dining feel — perfect for this Sindang favorite.

True to a great restaurant, the menu is on the simple side:
- Hanwoo gopchang ₩19,000
- Hanwoo makchang ₩20,000
- Hanwoo daechang ₩19,000
- Kkakdugi fried rice ₩9,000
- Anchovy noodles ₩6,000
And that's it. We started with one order each of gopchang, makchang, and kkakdugi fried rice, planning to add more later. Steamed egg comes free with the meal, with one free refill.

There's a garlic sauce with pickled water dropwort that's delicious for dipping the gopchang and makchang into,

and three kinds of house-made kimchi come standard too. They apparently sell it as well, so you know the flavor is guaranteed, right?

A sign you couldn't put up without total confidence. It's so good, owner — there's nothing I'd change.
Staff grill the gopchang and makchang for you
Potatoes, cabbage, napa kimchi, bean sprouts, gopchang and makchang all come out nicely arranged, and the staff add extra chives on top. They grill everything for you from start to finish, so you can focus purely on eating — that was really great.

They even cut up the kimchi piece by piece to make it easy to eat. Usually the staff at famous restaurants can be a bit brusque, but the ajummas at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in Sindang were angels.
The gopchang and makchang finishing up on the grill — looking at this again now, it looks so good it's making me drool. There's a reason this place is famous in Sindang.

Somaek was a must, so we ordered one Terra and one Chamisul.

Kkakdugi fried rice, and a new grill plate with extra makchang
Once the grilling was done, out came the steamed egg and the fried rice made with their house-made kkakdugi. It's not just sweet fried rice — with the radish kimchi and minced garlic mixed in, the flavor of the kkakdugi fried rice was layered and we kept scooping it up. We were so absorbed in eating that the grill ran dry, and since the makchang turned out tastier than expected, we ordered one more portion — and they set up an entirely new grill for us.

Even for just one extra portion, they reset the side dishes too — that kind of service is genuinely touching!! There's always a reason a place is this popular.

And then the reliably good anchovy noodles to finish... perfect for settling the stomach at the end. We cleared the whole Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang menu except daechang~! ╰(*°▽°*)╯

When we left after the meal, the waiting board was completely full 😂 I'd recommend visiting before it gets even more well known. This is probably going to be one of our go-to spots in Sindang!!
