Songdo outlet café dessert for two: mixing the vanilla Wunder Gato

It's been one gorgeous fall day after another and I honestly wish every day could be today. If you live in Songdo International City, you probably head to Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch pretty often on weekends or holidays for shopping and a bite to eat. I'm no exception. This time too I wandered around looking at this and that for a while, and pretty soon my legs were tired and my sugar was dropping.

When that happens, what you need is sweet coffee! So I went looking for it and ended up at Wunder Coffee Bar, a café at the Songdo Hyundai outlet.

Where Wunder Coffee Bar is: basement 1 of the Songdo outlet

On the hunt for sweet coffee, I found Wunder Coffee Bar. It's located in the food court area on basement level 1 of Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch.

There's such a variety of restaurants and pop-up stores on the first floor and basement of Songhyeona (송현아) that browsing around is fun in itself.

Wunder Coffee Bar has everything from coffee to ice cream on the menu. My wife ordered the Wunder Coffee cream latte, and I went with the classic vanilla Wunder Gato.

Both of our orders were sweet coffee drinks, and the moment I saw the menu I figured this was exactly what we'd want when our sugar dropped mid-shopping.

As soon as we ordered, the staff quickly got to work and had our drinks ready in no time.

Ordering the Wunder Gato and Wunder Coffee

Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch gets crowded on weekends and holidays, so grabbing a table isn't easy. We took our coffee and went looking for a spot, and luckily managed to snag one table. Lucky!!!

It was perfect timing — a chance to rest our tired legs from shopping while comfortably enjoying good coffee.

Classic vanilla Wunder Gato: the taste before and after mixing

My order — the classic vanilla Wunder Gato! I tried the ice cream first and it was unbelievably soft. It melted right in my mouth with a sweet vanilla flavor, and just eating the ice cream alone felt like it recharged my sugar levels and lifted my mood.

But after a few spoonfuls of ice cream, when I tried just the coffee on its own, the bitterness hit harder than I expected. I think the sweetness of the ice cream made the coffee taste sharper by comparison.

That's when I remembered what the staff had told me — eat a bit of the ice cream, then mix it with the coffee. So I did just that, mixing the coffee and ice cream together, and it was surprising how completely different it tasted from before.

The bitterness of the coffee combined with the sweetness of the vanilla, and the result was much smoother and creamier. If you order the Wunder Gato, try it on its own first, but definitely mix it together at the end. Personally, I liked it way more mixed.

How sweet is the Wunder Coffee cream latte?

This is the Wunder Coffee cream latte my wife ordered. It's one of the signature menu items at Wunder Coffee Bar, so I wanted to try it alongside the Wunder Gato. While I was focused on eating my Wunder Gato, my wife was already saying it was so good and happily stirring hers up.

Thanks to the smooth cream, it was sweet all around and, according to her, perfect for recharging sugar when tired from shopping. She said it would suit people who prefer smooth, sweet coffee over a strong americano.

A shopping break at Wunder Coffee Bar: seats and takeout

If you're looking for a Songdo Hyundai outlet café and don't want to stray far from your shopping route, the location of Wunder Coffee Bar in the basement 1 food court feels pretty convenient. There's so much to see and eat in the basement of Songhyeona that browsing around makes you want a break in no time.

Just keep in mind that if you visit during busy times on weekends or holidays, nearby tables may be in short supply. We got lucky and found a seat, but on crowded days I'd recommend takeout instead.

Is Wunder Coffee Bar worth a stop at the Songdo outlet?

I stopped by craving something sweet mid-shopping, and left happily full from the soft classic vanilla Wunder Gato and the sweet Wunder Coffee. What I found most interesting was the difference in taste in the Wunder Gato before and after mixing the ice cream with the coffee. Personally, mixing it together is my pick!
